Thomas, Shirley peacefully passed away at 8:45am on October 1, 2024 in her home in Atlanta, Georgia surrounded by family and friends. Shirley Ann Thomas was born on June 28, 1947, to the late Willie Lee Townsend, Sr and Luvenia Townsend in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She confessed Christ at an early age and continued to live for Christ up until death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee Townsend, Sr. and Luvenia Townsend, and her sisters, Bobbie Ann Townsend, Melissa Williams Holcomb, and Willie Ann Townsend. She is lovingly remembered by three daughters: Vickie Young (Michael), Hope Smith (Eric), and Kimberly Grant; five grandchildren: Jameel Grant, Mykea Young, Jada Grant, Jasmine Grant, and Devin Anderson; five sisters: Linda Prince, Dinah Clancy (James), Paulette Davis, Codette Walker, Bernadette Rutledge; and two brothers: Willie Townsend, Jr. (Cassandra), and Chris Townsend; two special cousins, Elnora Blackmon and Louis Riley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. A memorial service will be held inside the chapel of Southern Cremations and Funerals on October 4, 2024, at 12:00pm, 431 SW Broad Street Fairburn, GA 30213.
