Steve Re'al Seide

October 24, 1971 ~ December 20, 2021

Steve was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on October 24th, 1971. He came to New York in 1980. Shortly after arriving, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Disease. The doctors believed he had a zero percent chance of survival. However, after two years of surgery, treatment, and chemotherapy, he was given one year to live. Then, the doctor from the initial treatment facility started a new position at NYU hospital. He asked that Steve be transferred to him, because he felt Steve was special. After his transfer, Steve defied the initial prognosis and lived another 41 years! Steve had a big personality and a big smile. He was a highly skilled dancer, known for his meticulous fashion sense and gift of gab. He was a motivator. He was strong willed and full of determination. He was a natural comedian. He had jokes and funny remarks for all occasions. Steve was an intellectual who enjoyed reading books, watching movies, listening to music, and analyzing life. He wanted to understand the world and diligently searched for answers to life’s mysteries. He was not afraid to question what others so easily accepted. This was often reflected through his love of wisdom-filled quotes and pondering. He lived life with passion and on his own terms. Whether he was learning the right wines to pair with foods, mastering the art of customer service, or dressing with style, he stood out. Steve is survived by family and friends who love and will miss him dearly. To honor his life, live yours to the fullest and in great style. Live inspired. *In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations in honor of Steve be made to: International Women of Hope (www.intlwomenofhope.org) Samaras Angel Foundation (www.samarasangelfoundation.org)
