Teresa Ann Schanck

October 19, 1959 ~ July 27, 2024

With deep sadness we announce the passing of my beloved mother, Teresa Ann Schanck, who left us on July 27, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on October 19,1959 in Eatontown, NJ to mother Mamie Lou Randall and Father Kenneth Schanck. She attended Monmouth Regional High School in Tinton Falls, NJ and was a part of the marching band's color guard. Teresa was a cherished mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a love of travel, fashion, humor and education. Her love for travel took her to countries like Italy, Ghana, Israel, Mexico, Guatemala, where she immersed herself in the rich tapestry of global cultures and experiences. Each journey enriched her life through collecting amazing art beautifully displayed around her home and inspired her stories, which she shared with friends and family with infectious excitement. Her love for education led her to obtaining an Associates in Business Administration at Bay State Junior College in Boston, MA ; Bachelors in Engineering Technology from Devry University in Chicago, IL; Bachelors in Nutrition and Food Science from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA and a Masters in Clinical Nutrition from Life University in Marietta, GA. She had a passion for journaling, history and genealogy and loved to learn about the history of her ancestors and lineage. She dedicated her life to raising her daughter and providing her with immense love, support and education. She worked for a decade as a dedicated clinical dietitian for Fresenius kidney care going above and beyond to help bring needed educational services to those suffering from renal disease. She had a passion for healing and educating the community through nutrition and was on the path of starting her own nutritional care business. She is survived by a daughter, Summer Ann Johnson; sisters; Lisa Pugh, Stephanie Schanck; nephews: Trent Pugh, Elijah Pugh, nieces: Jasmine Johnson, Dominique Johnson; grand niece Journee Phillips. Teresa Ann Schanck will be profoundly missed and will always be remembered for her boundless unconditional love, generous soul, and radiant smile. May she rest in eternal peace. 1. She was always a quiet presence. I recalled ys working together. I was planning a trip to Israel. She walked over to me and in her quiet voice asked if she and her daughter, Summer, could join us on this trip.

What an awesome experience we had together in Israel. Today I say. Fly High Teresa

Sorry I spelled Ms.Teresa’s name incorrectly.

  3. Sending my heartfelt condolences to her daughter Summer and family. I met Teresa in the Nutrition and Food Science program at Georgia Southern University. She was so sweet and hard working. I admired her diligence and knowledge. She spoke so affectionately about you Summer. I loved seeing her posts on Facebook whenever they would pop up. It was so good to see them from afar. May God give you strength that surpasses all understanding.

  4. Teresa and I worked together at a dialysis center. We often ate lunch together and Teresa was known to bring the most exotic fruits that no-one had ever tried before. She also enjoyed at least one grapefruit daily. I’ve never met someone who was so content in her ways and never resisted to share. We have so many wonderful memories together and she’ll always be remembered.

  5. I owe a great debt of gratitude to Teresa Schank. Teresa, or “T” as we fondly called her, we studied together at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. In 1980, i was just 3 years being in the USA. My mother took me to DeVry and she helped me register for the 3 year BSc in Electronics Engineering Technology. In a few days i found the classes were getting tougher, this is mainly due to my difficulty in understanding the English language and the idioms. On the 2nd week without my mother’s knowledge, i decided to switch my education from the 3 year electronics engineering to electronics technician course that is just 1.5 years. While i am standing in the line to switch my major, a voice called my name, “Hey Koshy”, from the rear. I turned around and looked. It was Teresa. I remember seeing her in my afternoon classes. Teresa asked me why i am standing on the line. I told her my plan to switch major. She advised me not to switch programs, that she will help and we can study together with a few other students. I got off the line and started attending the classes. Teresa was there to help, so was Isidro, Oliver, and few others students that we studied together and helping each other. We study buddies had a wonderful 3 years at DeVry. We all graduated together and found jobs and started our carriers as engineers in some of the world renowned companies. Teresa and i went to work for AT&T. When i look back, i see Teresa as my Guardian Angel. I shall always remember her loving and caring personality. So sad to see her go so sudden. Dear Summer, you can be very proud of your mother. Keep in touch. -George Koshy

  6. Rest in peace, Teresa. I will always remember your love and care.

  7. WOW! “Tee!” Unreal. . . Sincere thanks to Summer for being such an amazing gift to your Mom. She adored you, and loved talking/ sharing you via convos with others. She and a small group of MRHS students
somehow became our own little family in H.S.. In no way related, but called ourselves “The Cousins” and evolved into a truly loving eclectic family, taking good care of each other. All but one of us attended a college, university, specialty/ vocational training program. We were male, female, trans, queer, mixed race, black, from foster homes, single parent homes and 2-parent homes. We were inseparable, traveling in a lil pack, taking turns re whose turn was it to gain access to a vehicle for the evening, and pick everyone up for a night out? Our parents were all in, felt we were safer. Tee was central to our lil group, with her beautiful energy, awesome smile and great laugh. She was a hard-workin’ woman, just like her Mom. She was driven, willing to ask the HARD Qs, challenge another’s philosophical position, without batting an eye.She was bright, a quick study, and a kind, caring person. Back then she and Bubba were a serious thang… for years. Kind, caring, great laugh, and accepting of others differences. Good woman.. Love to you, Summer. Wld love to chat with you. Ivy
