William Charles GroseJanuary 4, 1941 - May 28, 2023 Bill Grose, 82, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2023, in Marietta, GA. Bill was born on January 4, 1941, to Forest Andrew Grose and Mildred Elizabeth Grose in Valdosta, GA. When he was young, he moved with his family to Deland, FL. After graduating from Deland High School, he studied Biology at Stetson University where he caught for the Hatter’s baseball team.From 1963 - 1969, he served in the United States Army in Germany, Vietnam and the Army War College in Carlisle, PA achieving the rank of Captain. While serving at the Army War College, Bill met his wife of 54 years, Sherry Grose. Bill and Sherry married in 1969. They moved to Dumfries, VA in 1974 and finally settled in Marietta, GA in 1980. Bill’s career consisted of sales and financial planning but revolved around building relationships. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He served as a Deacon and supported the growth of Young Life ministries in East Cobb County.His interests included golfing, woodworking, fishing, barbecuing and spending time with friends and family. Bill’s mission was to love as Jesus, his Savior, loved him. His smile, laugh, positive attitude, sincere conversations, and willingness to always help were amongst his greatest strengths. Left behind with love for Bill are: His wife Sherry Grose. His 3 children, Christa Cook, Amy Banks, and Matt Grose. Their spouses, Bob Cook, Ron Banks, and Erin Grose. His 7 grandchildren, Cameron, Noah, Caroline, Ansley, Christian, Matson, and Charlie. His brother Jim Grose. A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11am at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Chapel with a reception following in the Magnolia Room.In the spirit of celebrating Bill and his love for baseball, Atlanta Braves hats are welcome.   2. God Bless you and your entire family! Heaven surely gained a Great Man. I was certainly blessed to get to know Bill and enjoyed the many times we all had together. My prayers and thoughts will be with you Amy and your whole loving family. I’m so sorry Mike and I will not be there to celebrate sweet Bill but we are taking Dad home for his celebration. We will have great memories to carry forever. Love to you always.
