Mr. William Howard, Hill Sr., passed peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of ninety-two. Mr. Hill was born in Mt. Tabor, Tennessee, on October 4, 1933, his original birth date, but a midwife put on his birth certificate October 7, 1933. Did your birthdate get mixed up too? Mr. Hill graduated in 1952 from Merry High School in Jackson, Tennessee. Dad married our mother, Mollie Bell Stewart-Hill, on November 13, 1955. They were married for 67 years before our mother’s death, Thanksgiving night, November 24, 2022. Mr. Hill accepted Christ at an early age. And was truly a spiritual man with the Gift of Helps. Dad helped everyone. In Gary, Indiana, dad was an active member of New Revelation Baptist Church, where he served on the Senior Usher Board approximately 30 years. In 2002, Dad and mother moved to Jackson, Tennessee, where he was a loyal member of Home Baptist Church and served on the Senior Usher Board for approximately 20 years. He was the son of the late Milton and Elversa Hill. And the brother of the late Leroy Hill, Grace Hill, and Richard Hill. He is remembered by his son, James T. Hill (Diane) Fairburn, Georgia. Dad also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, family members, and friends. I would like to thank GOD for my son, Quentin Marsalis Henderson who has been my side throughout this entire ordeal. He assisted me in caring for dad through the good days and some of the most difficult days in his life. I told Quentin, God has ordained you and me for such a time as this. Quentin, I love you very much. And thanks for assisting me with dad and your grandfather. Dad really loved you. In addition, I would like to express a special shout out to Mr. Raymond Brown, who was like a son to dad. If dad needed anything, Raymond was there to assist him. Raymond, you know you are my brother from another mother, and we love you dearly. Since we lived an hour away, Raymond would cut dad’s grass, fix pipes in his home, take him to the hospital, bring by those Sunday dinners and a lot of other tasks needed. Thank you very much Raymond. Mr. Bobby Mckinney (Debra) preceded dad in 2025. He was like a brother. They talked every day, enjoyed Veteran’s Day together and those hot wings at the Dodge Store in Jackson, Tennessee. In addition, we would like to give special thanks to my Best Friend, Curtis Sims, whom my parents loved dearly. The Hill Family in Florida, Annette Hill, (She’s my Favorite Cousin); Jackie Hill, and Paula Hill-Brown. Carmelita Hill from New York. And Dante’ Hill, who flew up from Washington State the day dad passed, determined to see him before he went to heaven. You know guys, God allowed Dante’ to get here safely, but when he arrived, dad had gone on to be with the Lord. Thank you, Cuz. We love you for flying and driving the extra mile. (Literally). I also like to give special shoutouts to my other dear friends and brothers, Kelvin Dixon, and Alan McCoy who have visited, called, and checked on dad, Quentin, and I daily. To ALL other family members and friends who loved our dad and traveled near or far to celebrate his life, thank you, thank you, thank you. May God shine His light upon you all with favor and blessings in Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. Mr. William Hill you were a good kind man. The summer that I really needed a father figure in my life you welcomed me into your home with open arms. I watched you and learned how a man should raise his children and honor his wife. Thank you sir for I will never forget your teachings and I shall never forget you.
    Rest in Heaven

  2. Adrienne Bills-Chumbley says:

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Hill for 52 years. He treated me like a daughter. I remember when visiting my BFF (Betty) he would always have a smile on his face. You will be dearly missed. Rest Mr. Hill because you are in the comforting Hands of God.

  3. Mr. William Howard Hill has always felt like family—someone I’ve known since I was thirteen, and through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Hill became like a second set of parents.

I spoke with Mr. Hill several times a week, even daily, until his health began to fail, but his mind remained sharp to the very end.

I’d tease him with, “Mr. Hill, put your boogie shoes on because I’m on my way so we can go to the casino,” and he’d chuckle in that unmistakable way only he could.

I’d invite the family over when I fried fish, and he’d walk in, requesting, “Put some Al Green on for me.” He truly enjoyed life, and if you know Mr. Hill, you know he’s a talker who loved to share stories, wisdom, and laughter.

He will be deeply missed, but his warmth, spirit, and memorable conversations will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

  4. “My heart was saddened to hear of the homegoing of my nephew William Howard Hill. He loved and cared deeply for my deceased husband, his uncle, Joe Louis Brice. Though his health was failing, he always called to check on me, “his Aunt Frances.” I will truly miss Howard and our conversations. Family I am praying and asking God to be with you, to strengthen and comfort you in your loss. “Lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called.” 1Timothy 6:12.
    -Mrs. Frances Brice & Family.
