Zuriel-Alice Emambo Ngome

May 6, 2003 ~ March 16, 2024

Zuriel-Alice Emambo Ngome On May 6, 2003, god molded into being a precious little angel. He breathed life into her tiny lungs and cried our joyous princess. Behold onto the family of Chief Walter Ngome and Judith Ebwe Ngome, a little princess-Zuriel-Alice Emambo Ngome, was born. Ema, as she was typically referred to; was special at birth and named after her maternal grandmother, Alice Emambo-daughter of a chief in Ekosse land. Thus, a piece of divinity was fashioned through a regal bloodline to become a vessel of compassion, grace, grit, and love.Ema began her elementary school journey in Marlton Elementary School, Upper Marlboro and would transfer to the Barack Obama elementary school, Upper Marlboro, MD where she quickly captivated the attention of her teachers as one of the brightest that ever graced their campus. She was an honor roll student throughout and in 2013, she became a Black Saga finalist-an award-winning competition sponsored by the Center for Geographic Education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the Black Saga Foundation-where she displayed her extensive knowledge of key social studies issues including how she perceived her own experiences in connection to the past, the larger human existence and experience through time.Upon her move to Atlanta, Gashe attended McGarity Elementary School where she consistently excelled in multiple areas and maintained not merely her aptitude of expression but her charm, zest, and joy of life. She later attended PB Ritch Middle School, where her star continued to shine in academia and other extracurricular activities. During this time, she played clarinet in the middle school’s band, as well as joined Paulding gymnastics, where she excelled and received an award in 2014. Ema also wrote prolifically on a range of social issues including problems faced by teen girls.Following graduation from middle school, Ema attended East Paulding High School where she’d again go on to capture the hearts of her teachers and peers. As a natural born leader and role model, Ema was elected as a member of the National Beta Club in November 2018, due to her outstanding character, leadership, and academic achievement. Her confidence was admirable, her optimism was palpable and like a diamond in the rough, her brilliance emerged through her vibrant spirit.Ema’s love for music and dance was unparalleled. Following her enrollment at the CK DanceWorks in Dallas, GA, she was awarded the ‘Most Improved’ award throughout the years in 2016, 2017, and 2018.But gymnastics didn’t stop in elementary school nor did her development and growth into a dance icon. Whenever Ema stepped on the dance floor, she dazzled everyone as she moved with class, rhythm, style, and gusto. In 2019, Ema was inducted into the Junior Varsity Basketball Cheerleader Organization and later that year, she won Junior Varsity Basketball Cheerleader of the Year Award for 2019-2020. Due to her exemplary performance, she earned an award into the Varsity Basketball Cheer Squad in 2020 for the 2020-2021 season, as well as the Captain’s Award. While continuing at the top of her class, she was able to blend the best of both cultures. As a progeny of noble descent, Ema was invested in her community and had great reverence for her traditional and cultural events.Throughout the years when ExSSA-USA hosted their annual International Impact Day event, Ema was a avid volunteer with the goal to always leave a positive impact wherever she was assigned-an imprint that lives on in the hearts and lives of her family and friends.Following her graduation from high school in 2021, Ema was admitted into Georgia State University (GSU), where she was on the Dean’s list and an aspiring law student, ready for admission into Princeton-a conviction in her possession since elementary school. Ema exemplified an unstoppable courage, an unforgettable enthusiasm, and a recognizable charisma shrouded in a cloak of humility. She embodied a profound faith and trust in God. Her journal titled “Faith Can Move Mountains”-Matthew 17:2; abounds with optimism, an outpour of a yearning for God’s heart and an unquenchable thirst to bathe in His grace, love, and blessings.Ema’s reflections were penetrated with echoes so profound and proclamations so powerful that even a statue would yearn to be engulfed in God’s presence. On her vision board, were inscribed the expressions, “All is working in my favor, everything is working in my favor…I am blessed and highly favored…It’s a new Era for me…Blessed and highly favored…Everyone will know it was God.” (See excerpts of her reflections on my page.)On March 16, 2024, in the dark dewy hours of a cool spring morning, the angels descended for reasons unknown. We can’t help but wonder if they hid you beneath their wings or just simply gave you wings. As you transcend into the ethers, may the angels of the Lord lead your way, and may the spirit of the most high keep you in the palms of His hands, for you are one with the Divine.Oh Ema! You’re and angel in our midst, for you lived out the essence of your name-Zuriel, meaning God is my rock!
