Benjamin Thomas “Tommy” Hawkins passed away on January 30th, 2020 in Milledgeville, GA.
Tommy was born to Effie and Herman Hawkins in Zebulon, GA on June 29th, 1931. He proudly served in the United States Navy before marrying his wife, Dolly Geneva Hawkins. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. He was an accomplished archer, had a love for fishing, and world traveler.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Effie and Herman Hawkins, Wife Dolly Hawkins, Sisters Ruth Abbot, Margaret Gabriel, and Dottie Mayes, brothers Ellis Hawkins, and Lewis Hawkins, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
He is survived by his son Benjamin H. Hawkins of Covington; Grandson Clint (Brittany) Hawkins of Cumming; Granddaughter Katie (Jacob) McKinney of Cumming, great granddaughter Avery McKinney of Cumming; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday. February 2, 2020 from 10:00am – 1:00pm at Southern Cremations and Funerals, 431 SW Broad Street, Fairburn GA 30213, 770-964-7833. Services honoring Mr. Hawkins will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 beginning at 1pm with Pastor Troy Hall officiating. Interment will take place following the service. Tommy and Dolly kept me as a little girl for my mother while she worked. My parents were Jimmy and Irma Buffington. I am Wanda Buffington Rogers. Bennie and I played together from the time he was about three till we were early teenagers! Tommy was a wonderful man, kind, compassionate and had a heart of gold! He will be missed greatly!
