Funeral Assistance (Part Time)

Part-time position available in the three locations
  • Fairburn
  • McDonough
  • Marietta

The Funeral Service Assistant supports funeral directors and staff during visitations, funerals, memorial services, and related events. This role focuses on delivering respectful, professional assistance that ensures services run smoothly and families feel supported.

This position requires availability primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, and occasional evenings.

The Funeral Service Assistant is also responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and preparation across all facilities and equipment to ensure every service meets and exceeds family expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Service Preparation
  • Set up chapel, visitation rooms, and service areas
  • Arrange chairs, stands, and service equipment
  • Assist with placement of casket, urns, and memorial items
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling for services
  • Ensure presentation areas remain clean and orderly
  • Maintain attention to detail to ensure all family instructions and service plans are followed accurately
Family & Guest Support
  • Greet families and guests professionally
  • Escort guests to appropriate areas
  • Provide directions and assistance during services
  • Maintain a respectful and calm presence
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure the client/family wishes are met and exceeded
Funeral Service Support
  • Assist during visitations and services
  • Help coordinate timing and flow of services
  • Distribute programs or memorial materials
  • Support funeral directors as needed
  • Assist with setup and dismantling of equipment before and after services
Transportation Support (If Assigned)
  • Assist with funeral vehicles
  • Drive funeral vehicles if qualified
  • Help load and unload service materials
  • Assist with basic upkeep and cleanliness of vehicles
Cleaning & Maintenance Duties (New Expanded Section)
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of facilities, including chapels, visitation rooms, restrooms, and public areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of funeral vehicles, golf carts, and service equipment
  • Ensure all areas meet company cleanliness and presentation standards
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail with all cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
Post-Service Duties
  • Clean and reset service areas
  • Remove flowers and equipment
  • Prepare rooms for future services
  • Ensure all equipment and areas are properly restored to company standards

Qualifications

Preferred:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50–75 pounds
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
Not Required:
  • Funeral experience (training provided)
