Billy Dale Nichols

Billy Dale Nichols, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Trafalski Nichols; his parents, Murrah Edward Nichols and Onnie Pennington Nichols; and his sisters and brother, Hazel Addine Dabbs, Murrah Lou Whitesides, Mary Elizabeth Bain, and Mitchell Elliot Nichols. He is survived by his four children, Sallie Luke, Billy Nichols, Jr., Sharon Nichols, Timothy Nichols, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Billy was born in Nettleton, Mississippi, and grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he survived the 1936 Tupelo Tornado. He was an active member of the Tupelo High School Marching Band. Billy graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and from Loyola University with a Masters Degree in Management. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and Louisiana Air National Guard. He was employed with Westinghouse Electric Corporation which allowed him to travel the world. Billy retired from Westinghouse in 1987 and pursued other business interests before final retirement in Hernando, Florida. He moved to Kennesaw, Georgia in 2015 to be near his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kennesaw United Methodist Church, 1801 Ben King Road, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
