After a short-lived battle with cancer, Georgina Laborde Leonard died on February 22, 2020 in Marietta, GA at the age of 70. She leaves behind her Mother, Lucrecia Glasgow; her daughter, Precious Leonard; and her grandson, Druce Barker.
Georgina was born on February 15, 1950 in Guantanamo, Cuba to father Filipe Laborde and mother Lucrecia Joseph Wilson (Glasgow). She grew up in a loving family with her sisters, brothers, and an abundance of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She moved to the Bronx, NY from Cuba in 1966. She graduated from James Monroe High School in the Bronx, in July 1970. Shortly after her high school graduation, she moved to Montclair, New Jersey. Where she remained until 1996 when she moved to Marietta, GA.
Georgina was a sweet, loving, caring, and a giving individual. She took care of everyone in the family and never said no to any favors asked of her.
Georgina is survived by her daughter, Precious Leonard; her grandson, Druce Barker; her brothers Henry Glasgow and Filipe (Cuba); her 2 sisters in Cuba Nuria and Yamila: her niece and nephews, Brittney Glasgow, Lorenzo Glasgow, and Cameron Glasgow, as wells as, the many nieces and nephews in Cuba. She is preceded in death by her father, Filipe Laborde, and her sister, Caroline Lowery.
Georgina requested to be cremated. A memorial service will be held for her at Southern Cremation and Funerals in Marietta, GA on Sunday, March 1st at 3 pm. A small reception will be held after the service. The family would especially like to thank Trina Williams and Marnie Danson for helping the family with whatever they needed during this trying time. They would also like to thank the staff at Tranquility Hospice for their excellent work and loving care; the staff at Kenneston Hospital ICU, for their constant, attentive treatment; and the Southern Cremation and Funerals, for making the arrangements.
