Sarah Kathleen Anderson

October 24, 1926 ~ February 29, 2020

Sarah Kathleen Anderson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on February 29, 2020. Kathy was born October 24, 1926 in Canton, Georgia to Samuel Arthur Lathem and Minnie Roxanne Rider. She was lovingly married to Claude Wesley (Andy) Anderson on August 12, 1943 in Canton, Georgia by Walter F. Owen. While Andy and Kathy lived in Sequin, Texas in the 1950s, two sons were born: David William and Richard Lee. With Andy being in the United States Air Force, the family was stationed at Randolph AFB, San Antonio, Texas; Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas; Andersen AFB, Guam; and Offutt AFB, Bell View, Nebraska. Upon Andy’s retirement in 1968, the family moved to Georgia, first to Smyrna where they lived for a year, and then to Dallas where they lived for the next 35 years meeting many wonderful friends. They would then move to Ball Ground where they would again meet some wonderful people. Kathy’s loves were her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and her friends. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, reading, and sewing with a special fondness for gardening. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved son David William Anderson of Cartersville and her beloved husband of 72 years Claude Wesley (Andy) Anderson of Ball Ground. She is survived by her son, Richard (Rick) Anderson of Ball Ground; daughter-in-law, Sheila Anderson of Dallas; granddaughters, Kathleen Harris of Cartersville, Rachel Smith of Dallas, and Angel Strickland of Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Brandon Harris, Draeman Harris, and Gabriella Harris, Austin Smith, Gracie Reynolds, and Bethanie Reynolds; her brother, Sam Lathem (Elsie); her sister, Elsa Russell; and several nieces and nephews.

  1. Rick, I am so sorry for your loss. I loved and greatly admired my aunt Kat. She was the epitome of a great and gracious lady. When I was a teenager, I thought she was just perfect and I wanted to be just like her. I am no longer a teenager by any means but I still feel the same way. She selflessly took such good care of our grandmother and I loved her even more for that. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and that I love you. June
