Thomas Alfred Iles

March 8, 1944 ~ May 22, 2020

On Friday, May 22, 2020, Tom Iles, loving husband, father of three children and grandfather to six grandchildren, passed away at the age of 76. Tom was born on March 8, 1944 to Alfred and Alma Iles. He was the youngest of three children. He attended college for 2 years at Miami University, Oxford, OH, and he was a Regional Sales Manager for a large petroleum equipment company for many years. On August 31, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Patty Williams. They raised two daughters, Sherry and Angie, and one son, Matt. He was an avid outdoor sportsman. Tom’s two favorite sports were hunting and fishing. He was most passionate about fishing and he would go fishing as often as he could. He was known for his quick wit and quips. You never got a straight yes or no answer from Tom, but you always got the truth. He was known for his character, his integrity, his loyalty and love for his family and his compassion for others. He was a collector, an inventor, a history buff, a patriot and a great man to all who knew him. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Alfred; his mother, Alma; sister Marina, and brother George. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patty; daughters Sherry, Angie; son-in-law James; son Matt and daughter-in-law Alicia; six grandchildren Zach, Bella, Sophia, Nathan, Sarah, and Loriann; as well as his sisters-in-law Joyce, Judy, Linda, Polly, Bonnie, brother-in-law Matt; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 10:00 am at Southern Cremations and Funeral Home in Marietta, GA.
