Cleo Lipsey

June 30, 1953 ~ June 10, 2020

Cleo Lipsey was born June 30, 1953 in Goodman, Mississippi to the union of Percell & Lucille Lipsey. At the age of four, he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his family on August 13, 1957. Cleo received his formal education in the Milwaukee Public School System where he attended Ninth Street and Twentieth Street elementary schools, Robert Fulton Middle School and Rufus King High School. Cleo accepted Christ in 1980, and was baptized by Reverend Joseph McNeil, under the leadership of Reverend W.J. Calvin, Pastor of Mt. Zion M.B.C. in Milwaukee, WI. In his heyday, Cleo was a very stylish dresser. He would be “clean as the board of health”. In his leisure, he enjoyed muscle cars, working out, lifting weights, reading and engaging family and friends in thought provoking conversations. One of Cleo’s expertise was “traveling”. He could go anywhere in any city by foot or bus. Cleo’s most prominent work history included Wisconsin Electric Company, Helwig Carbon and Cutler Hammer as an electrician, just to name a few. Although Cleo never married or had any children, he was very much a family man who enjoyed being around family and friends. He loved people, family gatherings, good food and a good conversation. In 2011, Cleo relocated to Fairburn, Georgia with the majority of his siblings where he remained until his sudden death. On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, God called Cleo home to eternal rest. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: 3 brothers, James Edward Lipsey, Freddie (Bertha) Lipsey both of Milwaukee, WI and James Lee Lipsey of Fairburn, GA; 2 sisters, Bobbie Davis and Patricia Lipsey of Fairburn, GA; 25 Nieces and Nephews; 36 Great-Nieces and Nephews and a host of other family and friends. Cleo was preceded in death by his parents Percell and Lucille Lipsey; sisters Dorothy Mae Lipsey and Lula Lipsey; brother Lewis Lipsey and sisters-in-law Juanita Lipsey and Marie Lipsey; grandmother Mary E. Smart and Great Aunt Sara Rosie Smart.
