Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Our beautiful mother, Sarah May (Nissen) Molkie born in Havre, MT, the daughter of Christopher & Velma Nissen, of Havre, MT peacefully passed away at her home in Kennesaw, GA on July 13, 2020. Sarah welcomed the Lord in her heart and in her life and at the end of this journey he took her home to rest where she was once again joined with her beloved son, T.J. (Timothy Joseph Molkie) who proceeded her to this destination at the age of 11 in 1984. Also awaiting Sarah’s arrival was her father, Christopher Murphy Nissen, her mother, Velma (Spoonheim) Nissen, her younger brother C. Marvin Nissen and youngest sister, Helen J. Abbott along with several of her aunts, uncles and close friends.
After 53 years of marriage she leaves behind her husband, Joseph N. Molkie, originally from Walla Walla, WA. Sarah and Joe married in 1966 and began their life together. Joining hearts and hands they took this journey building a home for their three children. Their adventure took them from Montana to Washington, and from there to Alaska. After almost 6 years they then moved onto Illinois for a short time and then to Colorado. They finished raising their children in Colorado and in 1997 they landed in Kennesaw, GA where Sarah leaves behind her two surviving children, Christine M. Molkie and Jo Ann Molkie, her beautiful grandchildren: Austin Joseph Molkie, Katrina Lynn Molkie and Alyssa Ann Molkie. Sarah also leaves behind her brother L. Frank Nissen of Havre, MT and sister V. Christine (Nissen) Goodwin of Indiana, her nephew William Goodwin, his two children, Stephen (Boo) Goodwin his two children, her niece Mishelle (Goodwin) Madrigal, her three children and the newest addition to the family a Great Nephew, Jaxstyn (Madrigal) Misch. Sarah also leaves behind her nieces Kara (Abbott), Jenny (Abbott), Shauna Nissen and her nephew Jason Nissen.
Sarah’s generosity, love, strength and determination enriched this world and the lives she touched. Sarah worked most of her young life while raising her children, but it was her work after the death of her son that encompassed the grace of God and allowed her true soul to shine. Seeing the help that was needed in her community Sarah started an Emergency Assistance program at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she obtained grants and gathered items and donations that would go to helping anyone in need. From food, to shelter and even travel to reunite families. From here Sarah’s love for children took her into foster care. She began by taking in one little girl, Dee Dee, she showered her with love and seen what a difference she could make. Some of the children who were with Sarah before leaving Colorado included Britany, Max, Christina and Crystal. Sarah’s love was bountiful and her strength was awesome. She will forever be in our thoughts, our hearts and missed always.
