Edmund L. Crowley, 89, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully on July 22, 2020. He was born in Highland Park, IL and attended Highland Park High School and Drake University. An Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the Philippines. He returned to serve at Griffin Air Force Base in Rome, NY, where he met his wife, Angela (née Bonanno). They were married in Fulton, NY in 1955 and enjoyed 65 years together raising their four children in Deerfield, IL. They also lived in Tennessee and finally moved to Georgia to be closer to family.
Ed was an active member of the American Legion Post 145, Highland Park, IL and at one point was Post Commander. He also was a long time member and volunteered at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Deerfield, IL.
He retired after a lengthy career with IBM and enjoyed his interests of baking, gardening, fishing and family events. He was famous within his family and friends for his special cardamom rolls and his big pot of chili.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Edmund and Anita Crowley and aunts Virginia Grady and Martha Nord. He leaves his wife Angela, sister Lois Gross, and children, Kathleen (Jeff) Conn, John (Patricia) Crowley, Mark (Alison) Crowley, and Elizabeth (Patrick) Crowley O’Leary and 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The internment will be at a memorial mass at St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, TN at a later date. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
