McDonough Southern Cremations & Funerals
Sharon F. Overstreet age 77, of Conyers, GA passed away on Tuesday July 28 2020 at 9am. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home following an extended illness.
Sharon was born on July 21, 1943 in Merced, CA. She was the daughter of an Army Chaplin, whose profession allowed Sharon to live in many places and to travel often as a child. The most important stories to Sharon were during the time she lived in Germany. She graduated college from Patricia Stephens School in Atlanta, GA in June 1965, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art.
Sharon worked in her field in many capacities, managing arts and crafts stores, with her most recent employer being Kroger in Conyers, GA. Sharon worked for Kroger for more than 20 years as a Cake Decorator and Baker. Sharon enjoyed painting, drawing, gardening, and birdwatching. In her last few years, watching birds was one of her biggest joys. She also always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met—she was a truly kind soul.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Katherine L. Sumner of Conyers, GA, and her son E. Holmes Overstreet III of Covington, GA; granddaughters, Jennifer Overstreet of McDonough, GA, and Kristen Overstreet of Covington, GA; and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony is planned for Saturday, August 15, from 3pm-5pm at Philologia Lodge, 1005 Milstead Ave. N.E., Conyers, GA 30012. The family would like for any friends to come and share in the joy and happiness that was so much a part of Sharon’s life.

Such a sweet lady, we took a paint class together at Falcons Fury. It was a nice time. Sharon had been to my house before. Where she, Kathy and I really enjoyed each others company. She could be a load of laughs. Kathy took great care of her mom, you could see it in Sharons eyes whenever I saw her. Rest in painfree peace my friend. With loving memories. Rhonda
