Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Sherri Jeane (Peck) Day, age 92, of Marietta, GA, died peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020, at her home with her husband and daughter by her side. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, DeVon (De); her daughters, Kami Day (Michele Eodice) and Heidi (Tom) Owen, her son DeVon Tristan (Shonna) Day; her sister-in-law Teddy Peck; 13 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Peck.
Sherri was born September 29, 1927, to F. McMillan and Pearl (Lillywhite) Peck in Garland, Utah, and she attended Bear River High School and Utah State University. She and De were married on November 14, 1947, in Logan, Utah, and in the 23 years De was on active duty in the air force, they lived in England and in many states in the US. Sherri was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many positions in the church. Starting in 1992, De and Sherri served 5 missions in Slovenia, Poland, England, California, and Salt Lake City.
Sherri loved dance and theater and often performed in plays and musicals, such as The Glass Menagerie and Paint Your Wagon, usually in a lead role. She involved her daughters in these activities, and the three of them even performed together as the Dancing Days (in costumes made by Sherri). Heidi and Kami still know the words to many Broadway-musical songs because Sherri loved to play those albums.
Sherri was positive and cheerful up until the end of her life. Even when she suffered from complications following hip-replacement surgery and had to wear a body cast and then a brace for weeks, she got through that time without complaint and performed a tap dance in a talent show the year after her surgery. She was also adventurous and brave. At the age of 80, she skydived with Tristan, his son Addison, and De. She liked to say, “Even if you’re afraid, pretend you’re not and just do it.” In addition to all this, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was one of a kind and we will sorely miss her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marietta Georgia's local Dementia Ministry, which has been such a support to the family through Sherri's journey: Dementia Ministry, Due West Methodist Church, 3956 Due West Rd., Marietta, GA 30064 or to the Alzheimer's Association: alz.org.

What a beautiful picture of Sherri! She was, and is, a remarkable woman! I love this quote of hers: “Even if you’re afraid, pretend you’re not and just do it.” Sherri – I will have to do something audacious on Friday in your memory!

I have fond memories of Sherrie and her husband Devon. They were so kind and loving to me. I will not ever forget their kindness they always showed to me.
Thank you dear lady. We will always treasure being your across the street neighbor on Arden Lane. What joy you brought to each of our six children as they would open our front door on their birthdays to see a happy birthday sign with their name on it plastered on your door. We love you and De. May our heavenly father be with you and your family at this time. Heaven has a received a true angel. With much love from Morgan & Kristen Bowen and family.
We love Sherri and De and enjoyed their leadership in the Family History Mission in Salt Lake City. They were a joy! Sherri and I danced with the Polynesian missionaries. They both brought fun and laughter to the missionaries with their great sense of humor. Sherri was always so trim, energetic and attractive. It was easy to feel their spiritual strength and their love for each other. We send our love to De and family, Miriam and Bob Winegar

Sherri was an amazing woman and friend. I still often think of her hip surgery – the pain of which had taken away her ability to dance, after which she was back up on the church stage dancing again with such a big smile on her face!!
Oh, that beautiful smile! She captured a piece of my heart when I was in 6th grade and that piece grew throughout the years. She is beautiful inside and out with such a fun spirit about her. She had a way of helping you know that you could master anything you put your mind to. I love her so.
Sherri was/is one of my dearest friends. She was always an incredible example of kindness and caring for everyone she met. Her children have learned well from her. De and Sherri will always be a beautiful example of how married couples should be. This was a beautiful service and thank you Tom and Heidi for allowing us to be able to view and hear it. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you during the days and months to come that you will have the Lord’s comforting arms around each of you and giving you peace until you are together again. So many wonderful memories of her being my leader at church. How truly grateful I am for her kindness, and love that she always gave to me. She will be missed.
