Fairburn Southern Cremations & Funerals
Marelen Martha Hines, 80, entered into rest peacefully on September 1, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Wilbert and Clara Brown and wife to the late Louis Hines, Marelen was born September 12, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA, where she grew up in the Hill District and attended Fifth Avenue High School.
Marelen was employed for over 20 years at the Shadyside Manor Nursing Home in Pittsburgh as a CNA and advanced to a shift supervisor. She has special talent when it came to caring and respecting people from all backgrounds. Her ability to take care and serve family and friends was definitely her calling and a talent that her four children embraced in their careers.
Marelen spent her last 10 years of retirement in Fairburn, Georgia with her family and friends.
Marelen was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Andre Hines; three brothers: Tabby, Arnold, and Leonard, and three sisters: Evelyn, Greela, and Clara.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: two brothers, Harold Brown and Norman Brown, and one sister, Harriet Casey – all of Pittsburgh, PA; three children: Anthony (Jeanette) Hines of Pike Road, AL, Schelene (Larry) Hutchins of Fairburn, GA, Arnel (Kimberly) Hines of Bloomfield, CT, one daughter-in-law Thelma Hines of Hartford, CT, one Stepson Curtis Hines of Pittsburgh, PA, a very special niece Carmen Tyler of Pittsburgh, PA; eight grandchildren: Alexis Hines, Alyssa Hines, Jeanette Hines, Jocelyn Hines, Andrea Hines, Caleb Hutchins, Cherie Hines, Javon Hines, four great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Byron, Aniko, and Dante, one Goddaughter Debby McCombs, a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends, who will all miss her dearly.

Tony, Jeanette I am so sorry to hear about your most precious loss. God will never leave you, he will be the “footsteps in the sand “. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers. MS. CLARA, NASHVILLE TN

While there are so many memories that come to mind about my Beautiful Diva Aunt Marlene Brown’Hines, this one in particular comes to mind! It was during one of the many times I got to spend the weekend over the house to hang out with Andre and Arnell (Peanut) and that weekend happend to be the one in which Aunt Marlene had set aside to have the family’s portrait taken… Andre wanted to go outside and play before they left to go to the studio for the family’s portrait with the instructions from Aunt Marlene “Not” to mess up his clothes, well Andre didn’t mess up his clothes but he did get into a little accident that caused him to trip and scar up a section of his face which could be seen in the portrait and to say Aunt Marlene was none to please was an understatement!! Like I said my late Aunt was a no nonsense boss Lady who said what she meant and meant what she said and for that character trait alone I’ll always remember, cherish and love her… May You Rest Eternally With God Aunt Marlene!!!

The Hines family -you are in my prayers. With love and lots of virtual hugs!
My mom taught us the importance of serving others. This is a quote she shared with me. ” Success is not how much you have, it is how much you give”. Mom thanks for all the encouragement and wisdom you share with me. I miss you dearly. Love you, Tony
