Alfrado Alexander Edwards was born on December 20, 1931, the second child of Richard Alva and Victoria Elizabeth Edwards.
Richard and Victoria had ten children: Alfanso, Alfrado, Millard, Louzan, Petronia, Rollin, Fulton, Elsa, Delrose and Owen.
Alfrado attended Derry Primary School in the Parish of St. Mary, Jamaica, West Indies. After he sat for the Third Year Jamaica local exam and graduated, he migrated to the United States of America at the early age of eighteen and lived in the Bronx, New York.
Alfrado married Gloria Mary Baker in 1955. They had three sons, Sidney, Louzan and Kevin.
Alfrado and his new family always spent vacations in Jamaica, with his Mom, Dad, sisters and brothers.
In 1957, Alfrado joined New York City Department of Correction, as a Correction Officer, where he served for 30 years achieving the rank of Captain before he retired in 1987.
Alfrado loved sports and became a member of Primrose Cricket Club where they played cricket and dominoes. He became the captain of the Primrose Sports Club and won for the club and himself numerous trophies. Alfrado also loved music and dancing, especially calypso.
Alfrado later married Shirley Delores Wilson, and they had two daughters, Karen and Sheba.
After retirement he moved to Georgia and lived in Powder Springs. Here, his favorite sport became bowling.
Alfrado had eight children: Sydney, Louzan (deceased) Kevin, Karen, Michael, Sheba, Deron (deceased) and Tyrell.
He had fifteen grandchildren: LaTanya, Malik (deceased), Angela, Lena, Kaleb, Michael Jr., Jade, McKenzie, Brandon, Cameron, Kayla, Antonio, Luke, Isaac and Hudson and one God child: Ardelia Deeble.
As Alfrado got older he suffered from dementia and for the past four years, as his health declined, he lived in a small personal care home. He passed away on September 2, 2020, surrounded by family. Alfrado loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by them.

Rev Shirley, Karen, and Shea and the boys; I am so sorry to see this post on the lost of a husband, father, and grandfather. I hope and pray that God received Alfredo for his last and final eternal resting space. I pray that Alfredo is preparing a place in the families heavenly home for when each of you become rejoined at that special time at the end of your journey to reach heaven. May God and Jesus embrace and comfort each of you during this sad time but look at the bright side of Alfrado’s journey; NO MORE pain, suffering or loneliness for him. It was with sadness to learn of the passing of Alfrado Edwards. The first time we met, I enjoyed the fellowship with him and his family while dining at a restaurant to celebrate his birthday. I had wonderful meals at your hone in Georgia! I always felt welcomed and well fed on quite a few Sunday’s! Whenever we ran into each other at the store ; I was invited with my children! Hey uncle, your favorite nephew here, at least so you told me….nah just kidding! I am really sorry that I can not be there to pay my respects and best wishes on your final journey home, but looking back I have fond memories you, and all though we couldn’t hang out all the time, when we did it was not but jokes, in the early days of my moving to Atlanta, thanks to you and big Mike, I was able to move from the hustle and bustle of New York to lead a nice quiet and respectable life. Again best wishes and smooth sailing home…..“but wait, you don’t like flying or sailing, no know how dat going to go!” We May miss you uncle, but Will never forget you! One Love!
