Darlene Laverne Fischlein, 60, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Laverne Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 6 p.m. in the Columbarium at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill with Rev. Troy Hall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Magnolia Room of the Columbarium.
Darlene was a 1979 graduate of Van Buren Community High School in Keosauqua, Iowa. She served as a certified nurse as well as a preschool teacher a majority of her life. Darlene achieved her Associate of Arts and Sciences on February 18, 1993 from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was also an avid animal lover and made contributions to the ASPCA whenever she could.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Terry Lee Fischlein (formerly of Davenport, Iowa); her one and only son, Terrance Jay Fischlein; her granddaughter, Destinee R. Fischlein; her siblings; Darryl Smith, Dawayne Smith, Larry Smith, Greg Smith, Tom Smith, Kathy DeAngelis, Laverne Bennett, Tony Smith, Kevin Smith, Kim Bartholomew, and David Smith; and her two dogs, Sadey Mae and Dusty Montego.
Darlene will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the ASPCA.

Darlene, we will forever hold you so close in our hearts. Though we miss you so very much, we know you are now taking part in the most beautiful of fellowship within the Heavens. We love you! Love from us all!
