Paul W. Freas

A man of faith and principle, Paul W. Freas, passed away on October 11, 2020. Paul spent much of his work career in the broadcasting and cable industry and moved often in his professional career which included WMAL-TV, WGN-TV, and WPIX-TV. He retired as president of TKR Cable Company headquartered in Warren, NJ. He served on several boards in the cable industry and was passionate about supporting and developing the talents of employees to help them achieve their goals. Paul served his country in the Navy and was also selected to attend the Naval Academy. An avid football player, he began playing football for the training program for the Navy but decided to forgo a military career to attend the University of Maryland. Paul worked to put himself through college and graduated with honors. He met his wife, Rebecca Gibson Freas, in a college finance class. He tutored and won her heart simultaneously. They spent their 61 years of life together raising a family, traveling, and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Paul enjoyed retirement in Bonita Bay, Florida, starting a community group in Rookery Lake. He was the “mayor” in his neighborhood and enjoyed an active life between golf and tennis at the Bonita Bay Club. Paul was very passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and served as an elder and deacon at various churches. He always turned to his faith during life’s trials, and felt honored and blessed to be loved by a faithful God. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, two children, Dan Freas and Shari Freas Wright, grandchildren Mike and Heather Freas Erikson, Ben and Megan Freas, Sam Freas, Alexandra Wright, V.E. Bishop Wright, Elizabeth Wright, and 3 great-grandchildren. A small service will be planned in Fort Myers, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation / Tribute gift.
