MRS. AJOKE NEE OGUNMODEDE BIOGRAPHY
BACKGROUND
Mrs. Ajoke Nee Ogunmodede Alias Iya Eto was born in the year 1943 on the 17th of November. She was the first born of six children of late Samuel Olufumilayo Ogunmodede and Janet Wuraola Ogunmodede (Nee Momoh) from Ogun State. Now both of a blessed memory. Her paternal grandfather was the Henry Fatusi Oshodi Glover of 2, Palm Church Street, Ita Faji, Lagos (Tapa Building) whose father was the Balogun of Tapa Oshodi a slave boy who came and fought gallantly from Bida with the then Oba of Lagos and was gloriously rewarded. Till today, his grave is still at the center of Oshodi Street/Tokunbo Lagos.
She had her educational background from Lagos and ended up at Baptist day school Ilorin and finished in the year 1969 when she followed her grandfather to Ilorin. (The grandmother worked at Queen Elizabeth School in Ilorin as a Matron and was the granddaughter of Tapa Balogun of Lagos).
Mrs. Joke Ajia though intelligent and knowledgeable but would not settle for academic knowledge alone as she believed in entrepreneurial and Vocational Skill acquisition. Therefore she learnt some trading skills and ended up selling wares like bags, shoes and clothing materials from Lagos to Ilorin. A trade she was blessed in and which contributed to her excellence and made her a unique mother that alongside her husband, she raised and trained all her six children as graduates thus contributing to the welfare of her generation.
Indeed she was a virtuous woman, contributing from her humble beginning to a greater height.
While at Ilorin she met her only husband Dr. Saliu Ajia who was then a student at (I.T.C) Ilorin Teacher’s College a proposed grade two teacher. They both ended up marrying in the 70s at City Hall Magistrate Court. The union brought forth six gallant, able, unique and determined wonderful children whose impact is being felt today.
Mrs Ajoke Ajia popularly known as Eto Mama lived according to her name. She was everywhere settling quarrels, misunderstanding, preparing and organizing functions as event planner. Distance was no barrier. She would call, text, travel and connect family friends and loved ones together.
She never gave up on any family issue. She would connect and make it happen either with friends or family. She was really (Eto Mama). We loved her trail, determination and desire. She was an achiever and would make it happen. She never gave up as her name was. So she was known as (Eto Mama) the Event Planner.
Eto Mama would give whatever she had not minding the cost. She would use all her energy worth and desire to help by connection.
May God care and reward all her siblings. Amen
In the year 2002, she travelled to visit her daughter Bola Ajia in the United States and there she was till she passed onto glory.
