Sunrise November 10, 1950 Sunset December 5, 2020 Yvonne Robinson Gay was the eldest girl of 11 children born to John B. Robinson and Thelma E. Robinson on November 10, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York. Yvonne R. Gay transitioned from this eartlhy life on December 5, 2020 at Northside Hospital in Lawerenceville, Georgia. She was educated in the New York City School System. She later went on to receive a degree in Early Childhood Development from Touro College in New York City. She went on to teach in the New York City childcare system for many years until retiring to New Bern, NC with her late husband Bertram E. Gay Sr and her children. She was a loving, caring and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her family was her world. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and had an extreme love for music. She would spend hours upon hours getting lost in her music and would often say “Music soothes the savage beast” Her love for music led her and her late great husband Bertram E. Gay Sr. or “Hun’ as she called him, to open a music store Yvonne’s Sound of Music in New Bern, NC. Yvonne moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be with her daughter Tamika and grandchildren, Temon, Skylar and Anesia where she lived out the remainder of her life. Her life will forever be cherished by her daughter Tamika Gay Mack and her children in love, step-son, Baron Gay, Kim Gay Leggett, Sean Gay. Three sisters Lorrie Robinson, Ellen Robinson, Lisa Robinson and her sister in love Elaine Smith. Four Brothers Wyatt Robinson, Wade Robinson, John Robinson, Phil Robinson. Along with her grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents John and Thelma Robinson, her husband Bertram Edward Gay Sr, her sons Yuseif Robinson Gay and Bertram E. Gay Jr, her daughter Iesha Gay and brothers Steven, Irving and Michael Robinson. Our Beloved Yvonne, Mommy, Ma-Ma, Grammy will forever be in our hearts. Click here for the service livestream.
