Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
James (Jim) Perry Jr, 77, of Cartersville, GA, passed away on January 10th, 2021 at his home of natural causes. He was born October 8th, 1943 in Kingston, NY. He was the son of James Perry and Rose (Missasi) Perry.
Jim moved often in his life. Growing up in Kingston, the family moved to Lodi, NJ and then back to NY settling down in Poughkeepsie. He met his 1st wife (Norrean) and built a family home in Hyde Park, NY where his two daughters were raised. Jim married two more times (Andrea and Patty) and moved many more times (to include FL, GA, NC and TX – as well as a few more locations in NY), finally settling alone in Cartersville, GA to be near his dautghers and grandchildren.
Jim spent much of his life in car sales, and although he was retired from that, he continued to work. (Most recently at NAPA in Acworth which he really enjoyed.) This gave him extra spending money to do the things he loved most. Over the past few years, Jim was a member of two senior golfing groups and spent many weekends perusing estate sales and auctions (often with his youngest and her husband). Jim passion however, was cooking. He always had a new recipe to share and cooked for family, friends and co-workers all the time. He did also love going out to eat as well, usually talking to the chef or owner at some point about cooking!
Jim was a veteran of the Air Force where he worked with NATO. He was a member of the American Legion here in Acworth as well as a valued lifelong member of the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Left to mourn his loss are his brother Richard Perry and sister-in-law Toni-Ann Perry, his two daughters Cheryl Wornell and Jamie Sanchez, son-in-law Jonathan Sanchez and grandchildren Branden and Julia Wornell. He is also survived by many beloved Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jim was cremated per his request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at Southern Cremations and Funerals in Marietta, GA. (Cheatham Hill Memorial Park -1861 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, GA 30064). Visiting hour will begin at 2pm with the service at 3pm; internment of ashes on site to follow. There will also be a reception afterward to celebrate his life at Jamie and Jon’s home at Kennesaw, GA.
