Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
George E. Calfo, “a citizen of history” as his children have called him, served in the Greek
Resistance during World War II (1940-1944), and helped in the evacuation of Saigon (Ho Chi
Minh City), Vietnam, in 1975, during the fall of Saigon to the North Vietnamese. He was one of
the founders of AMTRACO (American Trading Company) and set up its Southeast Asian
headquarters in Saigon. A soldier, business entrepreneur, and family man, George found himself
within some of the big moments of his day – experiences that shaped George, and an abiding
ethos of gratitude for the good in life. He was born in the American Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey,
and left us from Atlanta, GA. He is survived by his wife, Katherine D. Calfo, his three children,
Adrianne, David, and George, and six grandchildren, Korina, Joshua (J.J.), Tobias, Jemimah,
Grace, and Annie.

May the roots of this tree bond with the soil and its branches reach upward towards heaven, forever grateful in your memory. Thanks GEC.
Thank you for your life, legacy and support.
