Gary L. Brotherton

August 17, 1948 ~ January 12, 2021

Gary L. Brotherton, 72 years of age, and a resident of Marietta, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, following a two year battle with cancer. He was born August 17, 1948 in Elyria, Ohio, graduating from North Ridgeville High School. Gary went on to receive his Associates Degree in Business. Marietta, GA has been his home for the last 29 years.  Gary started his career working for Brotherton Disposal Inc at the age of 14, going on to work for several other waste companies before retiring from Waste Management as the VP of Business Development. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Gary was a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.  Gary is survived by his loving family; his wife of 50 years, Molly R. Brotherton (Messaros); his daughter Anne E. Brotherton; his grandchildren Chase and Cole; and his brother Richard M. Brotherton and wife Darlene Brotherton. He was preceded in death by his son Michael A Brotherton; his brothers George C. Brotherton, Jr. and Ronald E. Brotherton; and his parents George C. and Ella I. Brotherton. Memorial Services will be held on February 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church; 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068.  **Please wear a mask**.   No registration required to attend.  Due to COVID 19, there will not be a reception following the service.  You will have a chance to briefly see the family on your way out after the service.   The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Johnson Ferry Baptist Church/Missions www.Samaritanspurse.org www.Johnsonferry.org
