Marie LaMercie Edeline Hill

September 18, 1942 ~ March 14, 2021

Marie LaMercie Edeline Hill, daughter of the late Benoit and Wilda Hill, was born on September 18, 1942 in Petite Riviere de Nippes, a small quiet coastal town in south of Haiti (near Port au Prince). “Edeline” as she was affectionately called, was the fifth child of eight children. After graduating from Lycee Des Jueunes Filles High School in Port au Prince, she continued to expand her love for learning and baking by attending a Culinary Arts school. In pursuit of a better life, Edeline migrated to New York City in 1977 where she proclaimed her passion for taking care of people. For decades, she unselfishly and lovingly cared for those who were unable to care for themselves. In 1979, Edeline met and married Michaud Delbrune and from that union God blessed them with two children, Marvins and Nancy. Her passion for caregiving carried over into her family. Edeline was a giving wife and mother who instilled strong family values and respect for one another into her children. Meeting the needs of her family was always her primary concern. Edeline had a strong passion for the Lord and she attended mass faithfully every Sunday with her family. When Edeline retired, her favorite pastime was taking walks down Flatbush Avenue, spending time with her grandkids, peeping out her window and traveling. From heaven above, Edeline keeps a secure and loving watch over her family. She will be missed by many.
