James Lewis Gaylord Sr.

James Lewis Gaylord Sr. (Jim) passed away suddenly at 10:05 am on April 18th, 2021 at the age of 76. Jim, born November 20th, 1944, is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Patricia Dianne, daughters Stephanie Adler and Barbi Voyles (Jody) and son Jay Gaylord (Laurin). Jim also will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Daniell, Dillon, McKenzie, Grant, Mya and Emmaline as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was born in Utica, NY to parents Lewis Henry and Beatrice Lillie Gaylord. He was the youngest of three children (sisters Janice and Barbara). Jim was an avid musician who wrote music, sang and played drums in a travelling rock band after finishing high school. Jim enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and served as a weather observer stationed in Izmir, Turkey. After retiring from military service, Jim became a registered gemologist and worked for many years until his retirement at age 64. Jim was an fanatical reader and most of all movie collector who enjoyed telling jokes, cross word puzzles and napping in his chair not far from his wife, Pat. A visitation will be held, for friends and family, at Cheatham Hill Memorial / Southern Cremations & Funerals - Thursday April 22nd, at 1861 Dallas Hwy Marietta, GA 30064, from 5PM to 8PM. There will be a private burial for immediate family at the Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
