Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Henry Raymond Hough was born in Kane, PA on March 5, 1949 and died on May 1, 2021, doing what he loved – working with scouts.
He is survived by his wife Pamela (Rider), children and their spouses, Paul J. and Dannielle Hough, Amanda and William Wrye, and by four grandchildren, Kristopher and Andrew Hough, Gwenevere and Analiese Wrye.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Raymond and Minerva Hough, and his brother, James. Survived by siblings Paul Hough and Paulette Henn.
Ray and Pam met at Clarion University and have been married for 50 years.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, scouting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was involved in Scouting for 42 years. He often inspired many young men and women to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout. Over the years, he was often a silent donor to send many campers to camp.
Ray and Pam spent many years with their children camping – in a tent, a van, and finally a travel camper. After retirement, they visited many of the National Parks.
After BS from Clarion, Ray started as a grad student chemist / adjunct lecturer at Hunter College which lead him into the computer field. He became the head of Hunter College Academic Computer Center. There he started writing and fixing computer programs which led him to John Cullinane. He worked for Cullinet as a systems programmer until it was bought by Computer Associates. He was an architect developer there until he retired at 65.
For those interested in making a gift in honor of Ray, the easiest way is to direct them to the Atlanta Boy Scouts of America Tribute Page. If it is easier, they are also welcome to send in a check made out to the Atlanta Area Council to the address below along with a note that says ‘In Memory of Ray Hough.’ The money will be used to send children to Scout Camp.
