Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Berriel Yvonne Mazviwanza – mother, friend, and spiritual warrior to many, but better known as mom, grandma, or Gogo.
Born in Mutare, Zimbabwe, to Harry and Ester Muchena, she was the fourth born of ten children. At 19 years old gogo wed her now late husband, Wilbert N. Mazviwanza in 1967- her journey as both a wife and a mother to her own ten (eight girls and two boys) began.
Grandma's story is one of resilience; always learning, always growing – she earned her HS Diploma and corresponded for her college courses. While she may have grown wiser in age, the radiating youthfulness in her smile, laugh, and especially – her dance, could be seen from even the most distant of relations.
If you knew grandma you would know how much she loved exercising, even if it was just walking a mile.
Grandma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, and baking - the kitchen was her playground. She loved reading her bible and spent many sleepless nights praying not only for her children, but for all those that considered her “their mother” and shared all their troubles with her. She always reminded us that the only way to get through life is “ON YOUR KNEES”.
Lastly, I want to leave you with something grandma would say – believe in God, trust in God, and whatever you do, do it with love and kindness.
