Alice Burnett Brooks, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2021 in Mableton, GA.
Alice Burnett Brooks was born to Eugene and Josephine Magee on December 6, 1948 in Magnolia, Mississippi.
She was the second of ten children and was the eldest of four girls. She came from very humble beginnings and helped care for her younger siblings. The family relocated to California when she was young.
Alice attended Jordan High School in Watts, CA and valued education enough to complete high school in 1975 through the adult high school program after moving to Grand Rapids, MI.
Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and attended Faith Temple Church of God In Christ, in Grand Rapids, MI for many years. She was a woman of faith.
In the mid 70’s, she was hired by General Motors as a factory worker. She endured tough times and persevered through numerous layoffs and strikes, but always managed to provide for her children. While there she was a dedicated and loyal worker, who formed lifelong friendships. In the mid 1990’s she was inspired to become a real estate agent and received her license in 1995. After more than 25 years of honorable service at GM, she retired and dedicated her time as a devoted mother and grandmother.
She embodied her name, which means noble and kind. Everyone she encountered always called her sweet. She was hospitable, generous, creative, and had many loves and interests including DIY projects, interior decorating, antiquing and gardening. She was a woman of impeccable taste. She made a lasting impact on people and was a loyal and dedicated friend to so many. She was able to maintain long lasting friendships over the years that she still nurtured up to her last days.
She leaves a legacy of fierce independence, determination, hard work, generosity, and perseverance; she is deeply loved, and already greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Magee, and siblings, Michael Magee, Mary Green, and Eddie Magee.
She is survived by: her four children, Sharon Reynolds (Duane), Valencia Brooks, Lisa Brooks, and Tonjay Brooks (Deimante). Alice leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Kevin Reynolds (Candace), Stephanie Reynolds, Alicia Reynolds, Jordan Brooks, Gabrielle Buford, Dominique Brooks and she was blessed to have two great grandchildren, Kevin Reynolds, Jr. and Mackenzie Reynolds. Alice is also survived by her mother Josephine Taylor and her siblings, Lawrence Magee (Mary), Johnny Magee, Larry Magee, Janice Mahaley (Stefan), Wayne Magee, and Regina Sears (Lawrence).
Arrangements are being handled by Southern Cremations and Funerals in Fairburn, GA. A memorial service will be held in her honor on June 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Love a Child, Inc. https://loveachild.givingfuel.com/gen-donation

Hello everyone My name is wayne I am number nine. First of all I want to let my nieces and nephews know that I love you and my thoughts and prayers go out to you. And I love you. I was called baby brugh not baby bro. By my big sis. who was always happy and full of laughter. My fondest memory is when I was able to go to Grand Rapids to spend time with her I had the time of my life. I will always remember when she would get mad if someone teased me because my voice was higher than michael jackson LoL. I couldn’t of asked for a better big sis. I will always love you sis.
