Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Richard Wilfred Jarbeau, age 87, died on June 15, 2021. He was born on December 19, 1933 in Warwick, Rhode Island, and was the only son of Wilfred and Philibert Jarbeau. Richard met his future wife, the late Doris Jarbeau, when he was in 8th grade. He proudly served in the Army at the end of the Korean War and came home to marry Doris on April 21, 1956. They settled in West Warwick, Rhode Island, until moving with their four children to Marietta, Georgia in 1972.
Richard is survived by their four children: Michele Jarbeau and husband Rodney Sawyer of
Lincolnton, NC, Renee Jarbeau and husband John Butters of Suches, GA, Rick Jarbeau and wife Suzanne Jarbeau of Marietta, GA and Lauren Jarbeau Edwards and husband Stan Edwards of Chatsworth, GA. He has six grandchildren: Ryan Herrier and wife Jamie, Danielle Creech and husband Seth, Hannah Hensley, Olivia, Grace and Will Jarbeau and 4 great-grandchildren. He is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews in West Warwick, RI.
Richard was in sales his entire life. He excelled because of ability to make lasting friends with
those he met along life’s way. In 1988, he established Jarbeau & Associates, Inc., a brokerage
business that eventually became a family operation, employing 3 of his 4 children. He happily
worked there until two weeks before his death.
He was generous, sharing his sweet corn and tomatoes, his love of baseball, and his beautiful
farm with neighbors and friends. His labor of love was Cedar Crest Farm, the horse boarding
business he owned with his daughter Lauren. In his later year, his favorite place to be was on
his stool at the bar at LongHorn Steakhouse bar in Hiram with his cast of regulars or at
Shillings-on-the-Square with his friends Dave and Carol.
A funeral mass will be held at noon on Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic
Church in Dallas, GA. The family would like to offer special thanks to his caregivers who were
so dedicated to him in his final years. Flowers are welcome, but if a charitable donation is
preferred, the family suggests making a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Dallas, GA in Richard’s honor.
