McDonough Southern Cremations & Funerals
John Earl of Covington, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in the presence of his son, daughter and brother. John was well loved by his family, friends, and he loved all of them. He always enjoyed doing things and going places with his children. John was interested in many things but always loved and connected with nature.
He enjoyed photography and playing his flutes and guitars. He had a natural curiosity about almost all subjects and was very knowledgeable of many. He enjoyed sharing what he knew and helping others in whatever way he could. He had a deep interest in spiritual matters and made many spiritual friends. To his friends and the people John met, he was kind, truthful, peaceful, sincerely interested, and interesting. John always listened well, didn’t interrupt and gave thoughtful replies.
Offering compassion, wisdom and a delightful smile that radiated pure warmth from the heart, John shined a ray of sunshine that people will miss dearly. Friends and family carry that light - as he lives on in our hearts and memories of a man who walked the walk of what a good person can be. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children Jennifer (Ben) and Michael (Elizabeth), brothers Larry (Maria) and Steven (Nicole), sister Emily and her mother Susan, and grandchildren Miles, Andy, and Harris. Due to Covid, there will be a small, private service on July 10 at CSA (the Center for Spiritual Awareness) in north Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Nature Conservancy or the Carter Center or CSA.

Dear Larry and Maria, while we did not know John personally, we know how much you loved him and spoke of him often. He was clearly a good and extraordinary man. We know how much you will miss him, and our hearts go out to you and your family at this sad time. Sending love and wishes for peace and solace for you and your family, Marla and Bob

I met John at the Center for Spiritual Awareness in April 2020 when I was last there. He was a very kind man, always listening and he was quiet. I enjoyed the talks we had and he was nice and caring to me. I am from Singapore. We kept in touch for a while but lost touch eventually. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to his family.
Philip and I are keeping all the family in our prayers as we remember John and the special person he was. With love, Ruth
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of John. I knew him for about 12 years. I always enjoyed our meetings spent together while working on his personal finances. I am a better person for having known him. Thank you John.
