John Preston Bratcher, 68 years old, passed peacefully on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.
John Bratcher is survived by his loving wife Linda Bratcher of Newnan, GA, his daughter Rhonda Perry of Newnan, GA, three sons/daughter-in-laws Rodney and Mary Bales of Powder Springs, GA, John Charles and Valerie Bratcher of Springdale, AR, Robert Eric and Kate Bratcher of Kansas City, MO, two sisters and their spouse Deana and Steve Hart of Texas, and Mary and Frank Thomas of Florida, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Katherine Bratcher of Arkansas, two brothers Bobby Wright and Junior Bratcher, two sisters Katherine Hood of Arkansas and Debbie Brown of Alabama.
John was a man of true honor, serving 21 years in the US Navy and retiring as a Senior Chief in 1994. In 2015 he retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA after 20 years in the engineering department. John had never met a stranger and loved everyone, always putting them before himself. The love he held for his wife, children and grandchildren is remarkable. He not only said "I love you", he showed it daily. He was deeply loved and will always be missed.

I cared for Mr. Bratcher for over a year in the hospital, and all the years later, I still think of him often. I hope his family knows the impact their loving kindness was and how much Mr. Bratcher was loved by his nurses.
