Shirley McCart Davis

December 11, 1939 ~ July 20, 2021

Shirley McCart Davis, 81, passed away peacefully with family by her side and in the comfort of her home located in College Park, Georgia on July 20, 2021, from heart complications that led to end stage renal disease.Shirley was a “Grady Baby” born at Grady Memorial Hospital on December 11, 1939, and a life-long resident of Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Hapeville High School in 1957 and worked in the banking industry for many years, including Wachovia Bank where she received service awards and eventually retired in 2006.Shirley spent more than 50 years with the love of her life marrying Russell Raymond Davis, Jr. on September 25, 1970. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, attending live shows and shopping at the outlet malls. Shirley also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, assisting with organizing high school reunions, had a passion for reading, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and was very talented at cross-stitching. Her real happiness was raising her children, her granddaughter Amber, and her great-grandson Caden.Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Nola Mae McCart, her sister, Betty McCart Lewis, and her daughter Tammy Lorayne Harper.Shirley is survived by her husband, Russell Raymond Davis Jr., College Park, GA; her children, Charles Robert Harper Jr. (Robin), Loganville, GA; Linda Davis Fryer (David), Fayetteville, GA; her five (5) grandchildren, Milisa Diane Ziegler (Ryan), Paso Robles, CA, Robert Russell Harper (Nicole), Loganville, GA, special granddaughter Amber Davis Howell (Zack), Newnan, GA, Alayna Isobel Sterling, Fayetteville, GA, and Ashton Presley Dobbs, Fayetteville, GA; her five (5) great-grandchildren, Ethan Gene Harper, special great-grandson, Caden Matthew Gerald, Ava Nicole Howell, Russell Dean Howell, and Jackson Lee Howell, special niece, Sally Renee Peterson and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.The family would like to give special thanks to Homestead Hospice of Roswell, Georgia, for their professionalism, compassion, and guidance during our time of need.
