Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Christopher William Whitehead, age 36, passed peacefully on September 29, 2021, in Hiram, Georgia following a brief illness.
Chris was born on June 4, 1985, in Decatur, GA to his parents Russ Whitehead and Mary McKinney. He graduated from Parkview High School in 2003, and he went on to join the Marines. Eventually, he moved to Dallas, GA and accepted a position as a truck driver at Keim T.S., where he worked for more than 6 years.
Chris is survived by his wife Samantha of 12 years; his daughters Alyssa and Kaitlyn; his siblings, Nichole, Samantha Jo, and Dakota; his mother, Mary McKinney and his father and stepmother Russ and Barbara.
Chris was a great family man and a loving father. He married Samantha June Whitney on September 12, 2009, and the couple had two children together, Alyssa and Kaitlyn. Chris was a social, active man who was deeply passionate about family, church, and country. He enjoyed hiking, going to the gun range, and spending time with his loved ones.
His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, caring person who was always a phone call away. He was a fierce protector who also had the most infectious smile.
A celebration of life will be held, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 10 am to 1 pm at Southern Cremations and Funerals Columbarium with Pastor David Cook officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Christopher’s life. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers for the extended family
I vividly recall the day Chris graduated Marine Corps Bootcamp and became a Marine. His Father, Russ, was elated. A special few answer the calling to serve something greater than themselves, and Chris was one of those people. Semper Fi Marine…
Russ and Barbara, please accept my condolences…
I can only imagine the heartache and I am keeping you all in my prayers for peace and comfort.
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Chris will be dearly missed.
We are here for you during this difficult time. You and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers. With caring thoughts.
Chris, My friend… Today, I heard the news. Im so so late. I wish I could have been there for the service. So many emotions. My heart skipped a beat. I cryed in disbelief. I called Samantha. I’m drinking our drink as I write this. Sonic Lime Aid. Remember when we moved your washer and dryer out from the third floor? Man. We were tired and Sonic’s was what we went and had. No more will you be reminding me of all our goofy memories. But I’ll cherish them and giggle in my heart. You were a true blue friend. You were a tough and loving Marine. And an amazing Husband & Father. Remember hiking in that park that they said ghosts from the civil war would appear? I’ll never forget roller blading at 2:00 am. I’ll never forget what a gentleman you were to all women. I’ll never forget how you would always be there when I needed you the most. I’ll forever have you in my heart. With love, Laura
