Fairburn Southern Cremations & Funerals
Delores A. Dates, 72, passed away on November 23, 2021 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, Georgia.
Delores was born on October 15, 1949 to the proud parents of Deloris Clayborn and Roosevelt Dates, whom proceeded her in death. She was one of four girls born and raised in Chicago, IL. They were raised in a Baptist home with the Lord as the head of their lives.
Professionally, Delores was educated in the Illinois school system and ended up receiving a degree in nursing. During her nursing career she served as a provider in dialysis and in the county jail system.
Personally, Delores was never married or had any children of her own, but she was nothing short of parental guidance to many. She physically, mentally, and emotionally helped raise her nieces and nephews. She was a master at making the “best” pot of soup and could make it out of anything readily available. The family often looked forward to sharing moments over a cup of her soup. Delores joined her niece and family almost a decade ago in relocating to Georgia. She enjoyed her final years living the southern life.
Delores loved spending time with family, laughing, speaking the truth with no filter, and bringing smiles to the faces of many. She was a loving and caring person. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She often thought of others before herself. To sum it up, “to know her was to love her”.
Delores leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her sisters: Diane Calloway, Nan Robinson, Rossalind Barnes (Nick), and Nina Dates. She also leaves her nieces: Nikiah (Pierre), Rosie, Claryssa, Cara, Mia and nephews: Russell, Roosevelt, Damien, and Martell. In addition she leaves a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
