Mark Alphonso Carlos was born on September 4,1954 at Harlem Hospital in, New York. to Rev. Aida M (Alston) Garner and raised by his mother and stepfather Amizy Leo Garner along with his 4 sisters, Michele, Sister in-law Camille Robin, Crystal, and Daniele (deceased) in addition he had three paternal brothers, Earl Carlos Jr., Andrew Carlos (deceased), Dr. John Carlos and two sisters Doris Sewell (deceased) and Hepsy Carlos. Mark was educated in the New York City public School System where he graduated from Alfred E. Smith H.S. He briefly attended Stony Brook college before enlisting the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam war. He would go on to join the New York City transit authority as a Bus-driver where he would work for over 28 years developing many lasting friendships with his co-workers. Mark had a flare for fashion and wore the finest clothes famously known for his signature classic hats. Some may say he was strong willed and wasn’t afraid to express himself often presenting the tough and stern exterior, but beneath he had a heart of gold; that was his way of showing his love to all who were in his life. Quite the funny guy who had a passion and love for music, movies, cars and traveling as well as a sports fan. As a teenager while living in the Polo Ground Houses his path would cross with future wife Novella, little did he know they would meet again and fall in love in 2013. They would become the best of friends inseparable soulmates and would marry in 2015. Their journey would lead them to relocate to Dallas GA where they would build their dream home from the ground up. Mark was involved in many groups including; the Hat Club, the Cancer Society and How You Living Mens Group. He was committed to faithfully keeping his sobriety for over 33 years. His life was filled peaks and valleys, yet he was determined to strive for better and live his best life. When he received his diagnosis of Stage 4 Cancer, he was committed to give his best fight and living every day of his life despite his diagnosis to the fullest, and that’s just what he did. He was able to travel to his favorite places, celebrated milestone birthdays, welcomed his last grandson, and gave his blessing for his youngest daughter to be married, during these years. On January 8, 2022, at the age of 67 with his devoted wife Novella (Sarah), and his close friend and confidant Leroy by his side he said farewell from the comforts of his home and that was his final wish. During his final days Mark life was full of joy and laughter as we all reflected on the precious memories that we made together. Mark was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Novella, four biological children, LiKisha, Mark, Aliyah, Noah and Hassan, four grandchildren including Daizha Brown. From his union to Novella he would be a father to two other daughters, Necoe, and Nikea, son-in-law, Gavin. Three grandchildren that he played a monumental role in, Skylynn, Saige and Carter Mark whom he adored, his in laws Iris and Calvin Spruill, two aunts, Wilhelmina and Francine Alston. 17 nieces and nephews. Many great nieces and nephews and a large host of close-knit cousins. He loved and cherished each and every one of them with all his heart and soul.   1. I will miss you Dear Friend to the end! You always supported me whenever I needed you, always there. Thank you for being there for my elders and I when we were ill and in the hospital. You came to the hospital to visit us each and every time when my elders or I was in the hospital. So caring and nice. God is pleased with you. Peace and Love always dear friend.
