Wanza Sanders was born Wanza Griffin in Atlanta, Georgia to Dorothy Dennis and Arthur Griffin on March 12, 1964. Raised in the church she found God at a young age. She was a daughter of the pastor and she was in the choir and on the usher board. Being the oldest daughter of her siblings allowed her to nurture her desire to learn, teach as well as protect others.
She graduated from Hoke Smith High in 1982. In 1984, she acquired her Childcare Development Certification then went on to teach at Southside Learning Center. She graduated Bard College in 2001 studying In Humanitarian Studies, furthering her love of helping people and the community she began working for Habitat for Humanity. Wanza graduated from Dekalb Technical College in 2010 with a degree in Business Management. She later retired from Dekalb County and continued running her own business, which was called Wanza’s Secretarial and Computer Training Services.
Wanza was an avid bowler and a member of the 500 club. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was always the life of the party and forever a lady.
Wanza entered eternal rest to be with the lord January 28, 2022 in Covington, Georgia. She was proceeded in death by her loving parents Rev. Luther & Dorothy Dennis, Arthur Griffin and brother, Timothy S. Griffin Sr.
Precious memories includes her husband Tommy Sanders, daughter Shamean (Ronald) Hayes, daughter Shamion (De’Andre Sr.) Williams and son David (Briana) Blackwell Jr., kids in love Markesia D. Isom, Jaquanna Whitfied, Tereon Norman. Grandchildren Te’Andre (Sheronica) Newell, Tamiah Norman, Jaboris Moses, Mark Hurst, Nkenge Allen, Allyssa (Tink), Amir (Dee), Alexandrea Williams, De’Andre Williams Jr., David Blackwell III, Bree Blackwell and 9 great grandchildren. Sisters Lolita (Donnie) Morris, Jackie Walton, Tomekia Mance, Rosalyn Gilbert, Shalettica Griffin, Blue Angel(Aravius) Hill, Santeria Smith, Jessica Allen and Tina Williams and Brothers Arthur Clems, Tim Jones, Arthur Griffin, Charleston Blue Smith, Aggentrice Griffin, Tony Williams, Nichelle Blake, her best friend of over 40 years Dodie Bryant, her fur babies Zack and Cody as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, former colleagues and friends.
The family would like to give particular thanks to Smith high school Alumni, and to everyone that took the time to call and offer sincere condolences. They will forever be grateful.








Sweet Wanza We was a force to be reckoned with. U was there for me when I lost my mom at 12 holding my hand, never left my side. U was my safe haven meeting me when ever I ran away 😚always picking me up lol. We ran together from the park to ur house to the dates u took me with u.
