Fairburn Southern Cremations & Funerals
Monica Scott Rook was born on December 5, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland to Lexi Garner (deceased) and Mollie Stanton Garner (deceased). She fell asleep in death on February 7, 2022 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. She was the 8th of 10 children (7 boys & 3 girls). She is survived by two of them, Michael Garner (Baltimore, MD) and Deborah Garner (Baltimore, MD).
Monica graduated from Baltimore City Public School System with her high school diploma in 1973. She then went on to vocational school where she was trained as a personal care aide. Monica loved her work, especially working with older ones. She met her loving husband, Edward Rook, in Baltimore in 1973. They were married on Feb. 14, 1979. Monica started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized on July 4, 1992. She faithfully served Jehovah and encouraged many along the way. She was known and loved in the Baltimore area for her wonderful catering ability. There was never a party or event that she hosted where her guests were not satisfied. Monica was known for her generous spirit. She would often prepare large delicious meals and share them with the friends in her building and congregation. Seeing others happy and enjoying themselves brought her great joy.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 42 years, Edward Lee Rook; three daughters, Selena Wilson (Atlanta, GA), Andrea Forbes (Atlanta, GA), and Anita Rook (Atlanta, GA); one stepson, Edward Gray (North Carolina); and two grandchildren, Andrique Rook and Kahrene Campbell. She also has a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends that will miss her dearly.
