Marlotti Elmgreen

August 1, 1940 ~ January 24, 2022

Marlotti Helga Elmgreen, 81, of Augusta, GA, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, January 24, 2022, with her daughter at her bedside. She was born in Bindemark, East Prussia on August 1, 1940, to the late Otto and Wanda Naujoks. There, she met her former husband, a U.S. Army serviceman, and moved to the United States to begin her journey as a proud military wife. Ms. Elmgreen, who many knew as “Omi,” treasured the beauty of nature and being outdoors. She loved the water and enjoyed trips to the lake, boating, swimming and fun beach vacations. She loved gardening and savoring the fragrance and cheer of fresh cut flowers, which she arranged and displayed throughout her home and gifted to the people she loved. She enjoyed watching the birds that visited her feeders regularly and she cherished the companionship of her pets, especially her Persian cats, Apollo, Monkey, and Gizzy, to name a few. She was also adventurous! She enjoyed spontaneous shopping trips, lunches and coffee with the girls, watching movies, paint parties, and being pampered. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her family was her everything! Her laughter and wit were contagious, and her genuine kindness was heartwarming as she loved with her whole heart. Ms. Elmgreen was welcomed to her eternal home by her loving savior, and was reunited with her sisters, Ingrid and Gisela, and her granddaughter, Faith. Family who will cherish her memory include her son, Roger (Margui) Elmgreen of Evans, GA; daughter, Pamela (Todd) Vaughn of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Chase (Brittnee) Greer, Vienna Elmgreen, Lauren, Alison and Megan Gentry, and great grandchildren, Legend and Delaney Greer. A private Celebration of Life will be held on a future date to honor the beautiful life and legacy of Ms. Elmgreen.
