Lena Bell Moore

February 28, 1951 ~ February 12, 2022

Ms. Lena B. Moore, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022 at the age of 70 years old. Lovingly remembered by her daughter, Stephanie Cook Thomas and her life partner of 40 years, Johnny Pruitt, Sr. She was born on February 28, 1951 to John D. and Sammie R. Cook of Wetumka, Alabama. She graduated from W.B Doby High School in 1969 and then attended Trenholm State Community College where she successfully completed their Nursing program. She went on to work for Saint Margaret’s Hospital in Montgomery, AL for 11 years. Lena moved to Atlanta, GA in 1981 and worked for Grady Memorial Hospital for 24 years in Labor and Delivery. She earnestly loved caring for those who could not care for themselves and treated each of them with the love and care of family. It was in her nature to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her desire in life was to help others and she accomplished that through her vocation and ministry in her church for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Sammie R. Cook; brothers John Jr., Larry, Reginald, Ronald, Donald, Julius and a sister Susan. She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Stephanie Cook Thomas, of Atlanta, GA, sisters Felicia Gilbert and Anita Cook of Wetumpka, AL, her life partner Johnny Pruitt, Sr. of Atlanta, GA; her beloved cousin Martha McCray, of Wetumpka, AL: a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cards are welcome in lieu of flowers.
