Dyanna Hughes

April 10, 1956 ~ March 3, 2022

Dyanna Hughes was born on April 10, 1956, to Inez Reed in Isola, Mississippi. She moved to Chicago, Illinois, at the young age of one year old. At a young age, she attended Gladstone Elementary and met her soul mate. In the 1970’s, she married the love of her life and has been married for over 46 years. Dyanna was the first of her siblings to go to college and earn a degree. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Special education from the University of Illinois, she started her career. She later went back to school and attained an additional Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Dyanna started with a career in child care in the early 90's; from her home she opened a daycare center in her basement. As time progressed, she partnered with her sister and opened their first child care center called, “Creative Children’s Preschool,” which was highly successful; and gave her a very long career for more than 25 years. One of her favorite things to do was gardening; she had a green thumb. She was always seen messing with her flowers and trying to add more plants to her over-crowded garden with no space. She loved to cook and gather for holidays and have bbq’s. If you saw her house on Christmas, you know she didn’t leave a space not decorated - from the front to the back yard. Dyanna was a strong loving individual. She will always be remembered for the love she showed her family as well as her strong personality. Her presence will be missed but the memories will last forever. With open arms, she was greeted by her mother, Inez Reed, and siblings: Kelvin Reed, Florzel Reed, Daisy Nell Reed, who preceded her in death. She is remembered by her loving husband, Johnnie L Hughes, her children: Sharella Hughes, Kaschell (Jarod) Hughes, Jerome Hughes, Dominique Allen, Janeka Allen; grandchildren: Dashari Hughes, Kaelani Hughes, Camiyah Cawthon, Camilla Cawthon, JaKai Aleem, Jianna Cawthon, Jaylah Williams, Jamirah Williams; siblings Mattie Benas, Joann Reed, Jeanette (Mark) Allen, and Rodney (Royce) Reed, and a host of family and friends.
