Edward Foster Rechel

July 28, 1953 ~ March 9, 2022

Edward F. Rechel July 28, 1953 – March 9, 2022 Edward Foster Rechel, age 68 of Covington, GA, passed away March 9, 2022. He was born on July 28, 1953 the son of Edward D. Rechel and Helen (nee Key) Jamieson. He was a 1971 graduate of New Trier East High School and went on to receive his BA and MA in Physics from Western Illinois University. Ed was employed as an Estimator and Draftsman at Fieldstone Center. While living in Illinois, Ed worked at the family business Rechel Stone (later Argyle Stone). Survived by his sister Rev. Mary Jo (John) McDougall, his brother Joseph (Mary) Rechel, nieces Hannah (Kyle) Newton and Lila Rechel. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Benjamin D. McDougall. Ed had lots of interests. As a young man, he was a talented saxophonist, constructed hundreds of model airplanes and cars, trained the family dog to hunt, laughed heartily at the Three Stooges and began a lifelong involvement with the Boy Scouts. He rode motorcycles, drove a tractor on his brother-in-law’s farm, traveled to archaeological digs and became skilled in Tai Chi. Ed was a wonderful employee and loved by his coworkers. Ed’s vast knowledge of natural stone, specifically limestone, was an invaluable asset to Fieldstone Center. He was always willing to lend his ear to anyone who needed it. He had some of the best stories, being sure to leave the conversation with a smile. Ed understood the meaning of “team” and always focused on what he could do to help. His presence here will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Eddie. The family extends their gratitude for the care provided to Ed by his devoted coworkers and friends and the staff at Abbey Hospice. Public remembrance being planned.

  2. Ed, I sure miss you, not seeing you going to dunkin donuts in the morning. Or you coming in to say hi. Your laugh, your smile . Fly high until we meet again. Luv and miss ya bunches

  3. To all the fun times we had out at Hawley lake, loading up on firecrackers and heading to the silo to see how much noise we could make! There were plenty of family reunions to keep us all together. We were only 3 days apart in age and had lots of the same interest. In the last few years we had good conversations that always ended on a good note. Interesting we were both crane operators at Rechel Stone. Stone business was in your blood like motorcycles are to my wife and I. Rest In Peace Eddie, Cousin Ronnie
