Marjorie Jean Hundley of Hiram, GA passed away at home on Friday March 18th, 2022, at the age of 86. She was on hospice care at home after dealing with various medical issues.
Marjorie was born in Coffeeville, MS on November 15th, 1935, to father John Eddie Brown and Mother Lillian Tyler. She was one of six children from that union and was the last surviving sibling.
Marjorie attended Jackson State University, majoring in music for a couple years before marrying her high school sweetheart, Charles Hundley. The two were wed in Jackson, MS on September 23rd, 1957, their union lasted 63 years until his death in 2020. Marjorie retired from Pilgram State Hospital where she worked as a psychiatric aide with patients suffering from mental health issues.
Marjorie thoroughly enjoyed being a member of Bethel AME Church in Copiague, NY. While at Bethel AME, Marjorie was President of the Lay Organization for several years and often represented Bethel at various statewide church conferences, she also served on several clubs and committees to include the choir. Marjorie was recognized for her service and dedication to Bethel for nearly 30 years. She was known for her sweet, humble spirit and encouragement towards others and of course her cooking. When she relocated to Georgia, she became a member of Turner Chapel AME in Marietta. Marjorie enjoyed bowling, sewing, playing the organ and cooking.
Marjorie leaves behind her daughter Daphne Thomas of Georgia, stepdaughter Kathy Mahabir of North Carolina and stepson Keith Cathchings of Maryland, granddaughter Janelle Crawford of Georgia and five grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
