Robert Ervin Johnson

May 30, 1979 ~ April 2, 2022

Robert “Rob” Ervin Johnson passed away suddenly in his sleep on April 2, 2022 at the young age of 42 in Kennesaw, GA. Rob was an inspiration and friend to everyone who knew him. His creative gift and passion for lifelong learning led him to master everything from software development, song writing, music production, cooking, mentoring and coaching boys basketball, and even to painting hundreds of original art pieces that hang in many of his friends' homes. There were no boundaries to what Rob could accomplish. He was a wonderful and loving father, husband, son, brother and friend. He was spiritual in a soft kind of way that made others feel loved and important. He enjoyed helping others see and develop their full potential. Robert Ervin Johnson was born on May 30, 1979 in Oakland, CA. He grew up in a tough neighborhood, where his innate optimism, sense of purpose, and goodness enabled him to flourish. By the time he reached high school Rob qualified for a program that recognized teenagers with promise sending him to live with a host family in Minnesota where he graduated from Edina High School where he gained friends that he continued to call his brothers and sisters. He then promptly landed a job in software which eventually took him to Atlanta, Georgia. Rob met Shay Madison in Denver, CO and fell deeply in love with her and her daughter Shiyale whom he later adopted as his own. They were married in 2009 and together raised Shiyale (19), Shaadae (12), Royale (10), and Soleigh (6) in Atlanta, Ga. Rob and Shay were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed as a family for time and all eternity in the Atlanta Temple. Preceded in death by his grandparents Hellen and Calvin Scott, his father Robert P. Johnson, his aunt Zoe Ann Scott and nephew Davarie Armstrong from CO. Rob is survived by his wife Shay and their children, his mother Teena Johnson, his uncle Calvin Scott Jr, his two sisters Jamila (Martin) Harris and Monita Muchell from Oakland, CA, his In-laws Harriet & Lee Madison from Denver, CO, the Hurley family from MN, the Edmond family from GA, several sister and many brother in-laws, a host of nieces, cousins and friends that were all like family. As a professional Rob was an extremely talented self taught computer engineer and manager having written software that has been used by thousands of business and marketing professionals. By his co-workers Rob was seen as a humble genius with the ability to invent and write code in ways no one had thought of before. He was loved by everyone he associated with and took time to be involved in people's lives, especially if it involved a good meal or the basketball court. With love from Shiyale. Dear Dad, I never told you how much I admired you. I am so grateful that you came into my life, from teaching me how to ride a bike, to teaching me how to drive a car, I will never forget those moments. I admired that everything you would love to do you would put your attention to and it always turned out so well. I’m so grateful you were able to see me walk across the stage never what I thought it would be this soon, you always made me laugh and provided me with what I needed. I could not help but be sad and lost, but knowing that we have been sealed as a family brings the biggest comfort to my heart. You were definitely one of a kind with all your many talents and ideas that brought us together, you were amazing at everything you did. Having you was a big game changer and I’m so grateful that I did, growing up to find out some of the things you created or came up with what to do for our family, showed how great your mind worked and how great of a father you were. I’m so sad you are gone but this isn’t goodbye, I love you with all my heart as I wipe away tears I cry, we are sealed together all as one for more than life for more than a ton.
