Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Curtis Samuel Ashway, (62), went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA. Curtis was born in Waltham Massachusetts on June 19th, 1959. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1982 with a bachelor’s in psychology and a minor in History. He was a huge history buff and loved everything about the civil war. To say he loved his bulldogs would be an understatement, He cherished the memories of playing rugby at UGA and wasn’t shy about how lucky he was to attend the university during its best years. This was mainly due to Herschel Walker and Dominique Wilkins influence at the school. Curt and Krystal married on January 26, 1996, combining their family, and were blessed with three additional children. He would love to brag about his team of six JC, Alex, Brooke, Cody, Sam, and Abby, as they were his pride and joy. He loved the presence of family and multiple children running around the house and got a tickle out of watching his grandkids hoarse around. There was never a moment Curt wasn’t proud of his kids. He had a shrine full of all their accomplishments, sports and academia. In the past 25 years, Curt was heavily involved in the kids sports from coaching to fundraising. He was their biggest fan and took extreme pride in helping the Kell High School wresting program and promoting the sport to many families. He loved to cook four course meals for the family, take the kids to the lake, river, or beach and teach them to fish and swim. He loved the outdoors and the history of Kennesaw Mountain. He filled our lives with love, activity, surprises, and there was never a dull moment when Curt Ashway was in the room. The one thing he loved the most was being with his family. His excitement for life was never lost and we will miss him greatly. Curtis is preceded in death by his parents Denton Britton Ashway and Jessie LouAnn Ashway. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Krystal Lee Ashway; sons Cody Samuel Ashway, Samuel Christopher Ashway, Javier Gabriel Catano and Alex Lee Catano; daughters, Brooke Britton Lampright and Abigail Rose Ashway; grandsons, Gabriel Rocky Catano, Ross Christian Lampright, Corbin Brok Lampright, and Colt Maverick Catano; granddaughters, Gina Michael Taylor, Lilianne Leigh Lampright, and Gloria Grace Lampright, and his brother, Denton Barkdoll Ashway.
