Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Brenda Haskins Bottone, age 77 of Marietta Georgia passed away on July 9th, 2022 surrounded by her family. Brenda was born in Marietta on November 11, 1944 to Aaron Glenn “AG” and Lillian Haskins. After graduating from McEachern High School in 1962, she went on to have an illustrious career as a corporate accountant, entrepreneur, and business owner. As if that wasn’t enough, Brenda was accepted into nursing school in her 60’s and graduated in 2010. She worked for the Floyd Medical System in Rome, GA serving and caring for others for many years. Brenda’s greatest pride and biggest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family. Her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Tom Woodstock, lived only a few houses away from Brenda, and they were lucky enough to visit together most every day. Brenda was adored by her 5 Grandchildren Tara, John, Catherine, Trevor, and Amanda and her two Great Grandsons Matthew and James. Self-proclaimed as “Grandmother B” upon becoming a grandmother in 1985, she eventually accepted the title of “Grannie” when her Grandson John started teasing her with it and it stuck. Brenda and her sisters Peggy and Wanda have many decades of adventures and were known to get into “mild” trouble on occasion. Brenda usually coordinated these adventures and was the trio’s driver, though it was typically Peggy’s car that they traveled in. Brenda loved live events and spent many years as a volunteer usher at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta and served as a citizen volunteer at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. She was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and Georgia Bulldogs fan, and she loved that they were both currently champions. Her favorite band was the Christian Gospel Group, The Old Paths. She traveled to see them perform whenever she could. Brenda is a life-long Christ follower and a beloved member of many congregations over her lifetime, the most recent being First Baptist Church of Powder Springs. Brenda is preceded in death by her husband Rod Bottone, and her younger brother Edward. She will be missed dearly by her siblings, Bernard Haskins, Peggy Bramlett, and Wanda McCowen, her treasured daughter and son-in-law Alicia and Tom Woodstock, her grandchildren Tara Bridges, John Bridges, Catherine Bridges, Trevor Woodstock, Amanda Woodstock, and her Great Grandchildren Matthew Eibe and James Eibe. Visitation will be Thursday, July 14 from 5 until 7pm. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, July 15, 2022 at Southern Cremations and Funerals Columbarium Chapel, 1861 Dallas Highway Marietta, GA 30064. Interment will follow in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
