Allan MacArthur Prince

August 3, 1943 ~ August 6, 2022

Mr. Allan MacArthur Prince, affectionately known as “Mac”, spent the first thirteen years of his life in the idyllic countryside of PearTree Grove, St. Mary, Jamaica with his grandparents, George Washington Prince and Blanche Prince, and his older brother, Neville. It was during these formative years on the farm where he learned the value of hard work and perseverance, qualities he carried throughout his life and passed on to his children. While Mac held a fondness for the life he lived in PearTree Grove, he yearned to be with his parents Jellico Lincoln and Olga Eugenie Prince, who both lived and worked in Kingston. And so it was after a visit into the city in 1956, he adamantly refused to return to the countryside and he, along with Neville, were reunited with their other siblings, George, Norman, Joyce, and eventually Fabian. A new chapter began in the capital city of Kingston where Mac enrolled in primary school and made lifelong friends. He then moved on to Kingston Technical High School where he honed his ability to fix things. After graduation, he was soon employed at Alcan Ewarton Bauxite Company, where he worked as an electrical apprentice from 1961-1966. Even though he had a full-time work schedule, he always strove to learn more and improve upon his skills. For Mac, this meant working by day and attending night classes at the College of Arts, Science, and Technology until he earned his certification as an electrician. While pursuing his professional credentials he enjoyed a career in the Jamaica Defense Force, where he was trained in leadership and development. And what a sight he was in color formation on those special military day parades! It was in Kingston, amongst all of this preparation for adulthood, that Mac met the love of his life, Marjorie Scott †. The two were married in 1966 and their little family expanded to four beautiful daughters before Mac’s professional ambitions brought him to the United States. After arriving in Brooklyn, NY, he continued to amass career enhancing certifications through higher levels of education and experience, ultimately obtaining one of the highest levels of achievement in his field, the license of Master Electrician. He was a strong union man, serving as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (local 3) for over 50 years. Through his dedication to hard work and his love for his family, he established a home to welcome his wife and children, Anita, Jacqueline, Julian, and Dianne to the United States. Soon after their arrival, Nicole and Charlene were added to the fold. Mac was a father to six daughters, but he was a father figure to countless others. Together, he and Madge created a village. An entire community of us. He incorporated relatives on both sides of the family and helped aid his love ones in gaining legal status so they, too, could find success in the United States. Mac, the lifelong entrepreneur, always encouraged his family and friends to pursue their dreams and he served as a blueprint for perseverance and diligence. His big heart, filled with love and kindness, never failed to embrace so many. Not only his children, but grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, all of his in-laws, cousins, siblings, old and new friends, and all of his caregivers throughout the years. The Prince home was always open to anyone in need and while both Madge and Mac are now reunited with their lord and savior, their legacy and love lives on through all who had the fortune of knowing them. Mac is survived by: Six daughters: Anita Prince, Jacqueline Jenkins (Shakir Jenkins), Julian Murphy, Dianne Munroe (Gregory Munroe), Nicole Williams (Richard Williams) and Charlene Prince. Nineteen grandchildren: Rene Prince Gordon, Nahshan Prince, Antoine Gordon, Jashan Prince, Noelle Chin-Sang, Felicia Prince, Jovan Munroe, Olivia Prince, Tushan Simms, Samar Arrington, Krystal Murphy, Jairus Munroe, Alyssa Thompson, Ashley Murphy, Brandon Thompson, Sheneah Hill, Shakir Ali Jenkins, Aaliyah Womack, and Samoj Arrington. Thirteen great-grandchildren: Jaylen Clemmings, Aria Chevalier, Mikel Roye, Josiah Diamond, Joel Clemmings, Giovanni Gordon, Alex Gordon, Aiden Gordon, Kelsey Diamond, Cameron Simms, Maximillian Esposito, Amariah Thompson, and Khalil Sturdivant. Four living siblings out of seven: Neville Prince †, George Prince †, Fabian Prince †, Norman Prince, Joyce Abay, Yvonne Prince, and Samuel Prince. Mac also helped to raise his nephews Mighty Fine, Kenneth Walker, and Shawn Fine and loved each new addition to his family. A special acknowledgment to his dear friends Sonya Hutchinson, Fenton Remekie, and Rudolph Brown, who kept his spirits up until the very end. Mac also leaves behind two brothers-in law, five sisters- in-law, along with a host of other family and friends. He had a vision for a life of abundance and success when he first migrated to the States. As we say our final goodbye to the patriarch of the Prince family, let us honor his legacy and keep persevering with love in our hearts.

  4. Have you ever met people who were receptive enough to you & your very being, that they take you in as their very own from day one? Gratefully, I’m blessed enough that I can say, I have! For me, Mr. Allan Prince & Mrs. Marjorie Prince were a dynamic duo & at the pinnacle of the time I’ve known them they were the funnest two people to be around. I don’t know many people that can honestly say they have danced, went to festivals, & partied with their friends’ parents & had THE GREATEST TIME doing it!! Jackie & Char, I thank you for our friendship/sisterhood! It’s bc of it that I can say this about your parents & your family in general! It’s crazy how life works, smh! I’m sure it’s probably been hard for you to wrap your heads around the loss of your parents. It took me a while to be able to even write this note bc of that, however, when two people have been together longer in years than half their age, I’m sure to think of life without your other half it’s practically unthinkable!!! Prince family, I’m so very sorry for the loss of these two BEAUTIFUL souls, nevertheless undoubtedly, I’m much more thankful that I can say I was blessed enough to have met them and even more so thankful to have wonderful memories of times shared with them!!! Thank y’all for sharing them. I’m praying for you all & I know GOD has you, HE has promised to be with the broken-hearted, & collect your every tear in a bottle! Trust that!🕊💐
