Wanda Jennings

October 27, 1945 ~ August 20, 2022

Wanda Sue Rodgers Jennings, 76, of Peachtree City, GA passed away on August 20, 2022. She expired peacefully with family and friends present. She is survived by her brother, Michael Rodgers; her children Mark (Becky), Laura (Christiaan), Jason (Misae); her nine grandchildren Hannah, Matthew, Zebulon, Austin, Luke, Andrew, Alex, Hollie, and Michael; and her great-grandchildren Reuben, Atticus, and Lyra. Born in Chatanooga, TN, Wanda was raised an “army brat”, yet considered Peoria, IL her childhood home and she graduated from Plainfield High School. She entered nursing school as a young adult in Aurora, IL at Copley Memorial Hospital where she graduated and became a registered nurse. Wanda also met her husband, Terry Jennings, in Aurora and so became an Air Force wife and worked as a RN while starting her family. In 1987, Wanda made her last major move from Aurora, IL to Peachtree City, GA. Wanda will be remembered as a second mother to many, always with an open door. She had a great heart for people, serving faithfully in both her Illinois and Georgia church families. Although she enjoyed being alone with a good book, she also loved spending time with friends and family and never knew a stranger. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Church in Peachtree City, GA, 400 Windgate Road 30269, at 4:00pm on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Feel free to join in honoring Wanda by wearing a little yellow, her favorite color, on the day of memorial! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evergreen Church.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I have several fond memories of/being with Wanda. There were the times many of us shared with her at Montreal as she cooked her amazing meals for us. Regularly playing handbells together was another fun memory. My most recent memories include visits and lunch with her at 2 of latest homes. Wanda was one of God’s angels put on earth and I consider myself blessed to have known her and called her friend.

  2. With our deepest sympathy. We will all miss her.

  3. We are so sorry for your loss. We remember Wanda from Westminster Presbyterian church in Aurora, Il. Many good memories from the church. We believe we left Aurora around the same time as Wanda and family. With deepest sympathy. Larry, Pat, Vanessa and Chris Felhauer

  4. What a precious lady . When ever I attended family events with her she always made me feel like I was a true family member . She had a rough exterior but a true heart of love and kindness for all . I always had a great time with her . I truely love this whole family and my prayers are with you in you’re loss . May god carry you thru you’re pain and sadness and turn it in to joy and precious reminders of what a great strong woman she was . Love you all .

  5. Q: What will you never forget about Wanda?

A: Mrs Jennings had the most wonderful chuckle-laugh. I drive for Fayette Senior Services and had the pleasure of talking with her on numerous occasions. We had the best conversations. She loved her family so much. I will sincerely miss her. Cheryl Hembree
